Moving Posts to a New Site

I started a blog years ago for my genealogy and due to life circumstances abandoned it and the site is no longer active. I really want to start my genealogy blog back up again and in fact, purchased a domain for it about a month ago and it's already been indexed-----with no content in it!

I was wondering if I would be able to revamp the content I had in the old blog to the new one. Does anyone know if this would hurt my Google rankings?

My assumption is that the site is no longer active so it wouldn't be an issue, but I also don't want to risk having duplicate content that hurts my rankings on Google.

I had been working pretty heavily with that site for 3-4 solid months and have a good basis of content. I would of course review and update as necessary.

I would agree with Dale unless it is geneology information that is still relevent, Chastity, then you could refresh it and relaod!

My advice, given that it was only 3-4 months of work, take it as an opportunity to create completely new, refreshed content.

Given that the site was "years old", the content would have needed a heavy refresh anyway & 3-4 months isn't really a long time at all in the grand scheme of things. No point even risking it.
