A Missed Opportunity, But Also A Learning Lesson
So today I want to share a learning lesson with the community. This is something I have realized within the past few days.
I would kick myself if I could, but I have no choice but to chalk it up and accept it as a learning lesson.
So I ran a PPC campaign on Bing, and I invested a little over $100. It was a well written and very relevant ad, which Kyle teaches us about in the training, so my quality score was high, meaning I was paying less for clicks.
So I received a little over 600 clicks, and I had some sign-ups, but I could have had so much more email subscribers.
I was under the impression I did not need a "squeeze page" because I had a pop-up set up on my site from my autoresponder, and I just figured if they wanted to give me their email, they would.
I was very wrong.
After some consultation with email marketing experts, I have learned that having a squeeze page before sending them to your offer is KEY.
Just a simple one with an enticing message and picture with a box to enter one's email, because I have also learned that people don't like to read a lot on squeeze pages.
So I did some split testing, to see for myself. I set up a campaign sending them right to my offer, and a campaign sending them to a squeeze page first before the offer.
So on both of them, I had about the same amount of people sign up for the offer.
The one without the squeeze page, I had very few people give me their email address, however the campaign with the squeeze page, about 35% opted in and joined my email list, and I was very excited.
I purchased a solo ad, and did another test, and my opt-in rate with the squeeze page added was still over 30%.
I then did a third test from a different seller and got almost identical results, so I was convinced at this point.
As some may notice by now, I am going to be adding a squeeze page from this point on, because it is a fact that only a small percentage of people make a purchase on their first visit even if they are interested.
If I can follow up with some well written emails, it will increase the chances for conversions and sales.
Now what if I added a squeeze page to those 600 clicks I purchased before? 35% of 600 is a possible 210 subscribers I could have gained and reached through email.
Tough lesson learned, but I am glad I learned it now, and now you have an idea as well.
Thanks for reading WA!
