Speed does not matter when writing content.

I am writing this because I just answered a WA member question. Her question was, "How long does it take to write a post or page for a website?" Here was my answer and I will add a little more.

I just did a revision on one of my Post. It was already written, It only took 3 hours. I will give you my opinion and others will have their own opinion

1st.We are all different individuals with different talents. We come from all different backgrounds and education. How long it will take to write a post will vary from person to person.

2nd. It depends on many factors: The research, the subject, the theme, The structure and outline of your content is another factor. How many words will it be?

3rd. Will you be adding links, pictures or video's? I am sure there are other things I am missing that I wanted to list these.

Other people gave their idea's and I respect that. Some said," 30 minutes," another said,"Six hours." We do not know if they are talking about simply writing time or total preparation? Again, it will vary from person to person.

In many ways it is like comparing apples to oranges, One person may have 20 years experience in writing while another person just started writing. Even if someone is a speed writer, it does not make them a better writer.

Here is what I consider the most important part of my writing and your writing. I would rather do 1 post well, than 5 Post or Pages, HALF-WAY. Your writing and content is YOU. It is your signature. It will become your brand. This tells people who you are. This tells others about you. Strive for the very best content you can produce.

WRITE UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH IT. NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES.

It does not matter if it takes you 8 minutes or 8 hours to write a post or page.

What matters most is the content. Your content is what will rank in Google and other search engines. This will bring people to your website. When you post content to your site, ask community to review it and give their honest opinion.

I hope these words will be beneficial and help someone to create quality content rather than quick content. .

Well done on this post!

Good overview, good thinking. Excellent!

I agree with you completely. I would like to think that I am a great writer, but it usually takes me up to a few days to create a post and get it where I would like it to be. Too much of a perfectionist maybe but I'm with you- I would rather do it once and do it right than to constantly be editing a post after posting it.

Thank for your comment and I agree. If you are like me and meticulous in detail, no post can be half way. Have a great day!

Great advice. I tend to write and rewrite and then go back and rewrite again later. I prefer taking my time.

Good thoughts. Personally, my posts are one of the most time consuming things that I do, but I also find it to be the most educating as well. Think of your posts as articles that people will be searching for many months in the future, bringing a flow of traffic over that time, so it warrants some time to make it good.

You are correct some people can write with no problems at all and some people can not. But it is what we learnt at the start of the courses pick the niche that you know so well it will just flow naturally.

Precisely! Right on target! And very timely information... tongue in cheek..as pun intended

Thanks for sharing. I think so many people are anxious to get their content up that they just want to rush through it and get it there. They just have to find their voice and no matter how long it takes them, they just need to be patient and believe in the process.

First draft is always not good enough for me. I need to edit many times until I m totally satisfied. The whole process took me very long because I am a very fussy writer. Lolx...

That is a great attitude and I feel the same.

Thanks for sharing.
I take very long when its day time, for some reason when I start writing after midnight, I can finish it in less than 20 minutes with average 500 words. When its an in depth blog, it can take me days. I try not to over think, but it happens. :)

I think it is easier to concentrate when there are less distractions. Night time is always best for me.
