Ultimate Social Media Icons email button not working
Hi there,
When I first started with my social media icons I stumbled upon this plugin called Ultimate Social Media Icons, and I must say I loved it. It was very user friendly and was very customizeable.
I soon realized that my email icon doesn't work. I saw in the plugin settings they tell you to claim your feed via specificfeeds.com, so that is what i did. It still didn't work, so I contacted the support and they truly helped me a lot (even over the Christmas period).
The conclusion after a few emails was that there was a problem with the CURL on my side. Not knowing what he was talking about I asked a question in Wealthy Affiliate and soon I got an answer from PJ who really explained it well.

At the end it basically means that Wealthy Affiliate doesn't support the external call from Specificfeeds.
I deleted the plugin and I am currently using the share buttons by AddThis. It seems to be working fine for me so far. It is not so customizeable, but it does the job.

I am using this plugin and was trying to find out if the email button worked. From your story I now know that is doesn't. Did you delete the Ultimate Social Media Icons and replace it by AddThis?

Yes, I deleted the Ultimate Social Media Icons plugin and replaced it with AddThis. AddThis does the job quite well, but I would of just wanted it to do a bit more. I had the Shareaholic plugin as well (which was perfect), but I read a lot of negative reviews on it so I decided to delete it as well. So far the AddThis is fine for me.
Let me know what you think or if you find something better. I have been through a few plugins and AddThis was the best so far.

Just added Social Media Icons to my site and the email and subscribe features are working fine. Love this plug in - especially the metallic looking icons, the widget that adds a subscription form to the sidebar (or wherever you want to put it). I would say it's definitely worth a try as it looks like they have corrected this problem. The new sign up form is great.
