Hi guys,

I have installed the Ultimate Social Media Icons plugin and I love it! The only problem I have is my email subscription and RSS feed. I have claimed my feed, just as the plugin suggests.

I could find the answer on the internet so I tried emailing support. I spoke to a guy there and the outcome was that they can't help me and he says it has something to do with the CURL on my side...

Do any of you know what it is and how I can get my email subscription on my blog to work?

Thank you in advance.

CJ

Hi, Pj:
I have a similar problem. I have installed Jack Jacker (a Brett Rutecky's product) plugin which allows me to show the pages of other sites (NO I-frame, NO copying, NO jacking i-n spite of the name)
I tried it but unsuccesfully.
The developer told me that I need my server to have cURL on it in order to make it work.

Im asking you if WA server has cURL on it and how I can activate it for my site to make the plugin work.
ùThanks/Best/Phil

cURL is a client to get documents/files from or send documents to a server, using any of the supported protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, GOPHER, DICT, TELNET, LDAP or FILE). The command is designed to work without user interaction or any kind of interactivity.
curl offers a busload of useful tricks like proxy support, user authentication, ftp upload, HTTP post, SSL (https:) connections, cookies, file transfer resume and more. Generally, you don't need this to setup an email subscription for your site. (We don't have access either.) I can certainly help you do that. What newsletter/autoresponder service are you using? Also, do you have an opt-in plugin already installed?

Thank you very much PJ.

I use the Ultimate Social Media Icons Plugin and together with that I use specific feed. The plugin suggested that I "claim my feed", so I did. It works perfectly when I go through their website and all my posts are there, but on my blog you cannot click the email button.

My blog is electrotechgadgets.com if you want to see what I mean.

Thanks for the help!

Okay CJ. While this is a pretty cool plugin (I installed it on a test website,) it wants to make an external "server call" to another website called SpecificFeeds.com to allow the email function. WA doesn't allow this type of external call. Only two options here. Contact Support and see if they will allow it for you or choose another plugin. Sorry, I wish I had better news.

Ahh, at last I get a decent answer!

Thank you very much PJ, it makes a lot of sense now. Do you have any suggestions as to what other social media plugin I can use that will be similar to mine? I have tried about two others, but they don't seem tovgive me as much freedom.

What do you need it to do for you?

I would like the "like and share" buttons at the end of an post and the buttons that "stick" on every page.
