Goals game changer and my new web site
Goals are made to be broken – sort of : )
I’m coming from a place where I used to despise making goals. I thought I could NEVER miss the target because even a near miss would equal complete failure. Talk about pressure! I resisted setting goals out of fear of missing the mark. I can’t believe I used to think this way.
Recently I gained new insight about goals that was an “ah-ha” moment and complete game changer. I realized that the purpose of goals is to move in focused direction. If we have no idea where we’re going, we’ll end up somewhere by default. The goal is just a map of intended direction; it’s where we aim. The great news is that we can change from here to there. We can pause to learn or have patience because it’s taking longer than we thought (or wish) to get there.
I set a goal to leave corporate by October 1 and that didn’t happen. Time to re-aim and pull back my bow; same target, new end date to leave by the end of 2014. This is possible!
I had a goal in February to have my first web site up in a couple months. That didn’t happen, but the site is up now, eight months later. On the inside, I’m jumping and screaming and shouting a resounding “Hooray!” even knowing there's more work yet to do with this site as well as four video jobs ahead.
I would absolutely love your review and feedback. This site offers a service. It’s not a blog; I have two blogs in the works not-yet-ready for preview. So you will not find a place to post a comment at this site… but if you use the contact form, I’ll get your email and I will respond : )
It took me longer to create this site than I anticipated. It began in February. I started the blogs a couple months ago and hope to have them finished by the end of October. It may take longer than I want it to but I am still moving in transition. I’m one step and one web site closer.

Perhaps the expression "Better late than never" applies. Would you have what you do today, even though later than you planned, if you had not initially set the goal?
