The Newbie Effect

What is this "Newbie Effect" you ask?

This is the syndrome in which people starting out in a project they know nothing about fear making a mistake so much that they make little to no progress toward their goals. You could say I've got some experience with this.

Exhibit A: joining Wealthy Affiliates. Since learning about this community, I have been excited to get started, to get involved and to get working on an online business. But that darn Newbie Effect has been keeping me from taking many steps forward. I joined early in August, but am just now getting to the point where I am working more on the content of my first website, and now to writing my first WA blog post.

I don't believe that I am alone in this experience. I think for a lot of people, starting something completely new is terrifying, even if the effort could be well rewarded. Is it a fear of success, or failure? A fear of making a fool of yourself and regretting ever thinking you could do something as cool as this? Or could it just be plain old self doubt?

Whatever it is that has been holding you back, it is time to stand up tall, believe in yourself, and get to work. Get pumped up by any means neccessary. Read other people's blog posts, watch inspiring videos on YouTube, get up and do ten jumping jacks, whatever it takes to get you fired up and ready to go.

Let's do this thing.

Great Advice. Jim

The training is a step by step process. In the beginning things are unfamiliar but each step takes you closer to your goals. Nobody is perfect and we make mistakes. These mistakes teach us how to do better. So, the newbie effect is not acceptable. Maxine

We all have this fear when we first start. The big thing to remember is this community rocks and we're not going to let you fall.

Anything new is scary.

That's why it's always good to learn the next step, then take it. Then, keep going and don't jump from one thing to another, until you've mastered what brought you success in the first place.

I am totally in the newbie effect!
I hope that is a phase..
thank you! And best wishes to you!

Hi what do we do about copywrites? What if someone wants to copy my website and contents?

Hi, I am not sure about this. I know that our content is copyrighted, you can see a copyright statement at the bottom of your website, but I am not sure what to do if someone tries to copy your content. You would get more help on this topic in the general chat. Good luck!

As soon as you memorialize your thoughts via the written word on a website or other tangible media, it;s subject to copyright protection. Having a copyright notice helps you defend your copyrights.
Of course the same rules apply to those of us who are posting content on our websites.
If someone is copying your website content, they are infringing your copyright. If that same someone is not copying your content verbatim but is using your ideas and reposting in their own words, that is not necessarily copyright infringement.
If someone was copying my content verbatim, I would start with a simple request to have them remove the copied content and stop copying.
If that doesn't work and their actions are actually detracting from your ability to make money, then I would enlists the skills of an Intellectual Property attorney.
