Everyday inspirational people - Today I saw 57,000 of them
Today I attended the Paris Marathon. Not as a runner but as an active supporter, the technical term I believe is runner's widow. There were 57,000 runners in this event - it was huge! This means there were 57,000 different reasons for people participating in the event. It doesn't matter what time you were aiming to finish the marathon, or what time you actually did complete it; anyone who ran today dedicated months of training, diet and lifestyle modification in order to be ready. My husband says the first 32km are easy, it's the last 10km that take the mental stamina to get to the finish line.
For us to make it to Paris, it started with an idea or goal. We set out the steps we needed to take in order to get here including; take time off work, book tickets and accommodation, organise insurance, airport pickups etc etc and pack everything except the kitchen sink. International travel is a bit harder with little people to look after, there is a lot more to think about. Thankfully my husband's aunt and uncle flew in from another country to provide support not only cheering him on, but to help me navigate the city with the little people in tow. It was an intense day, but one we will remember fondly.
I am learning to change my thinking, and ensure I set goals and strategies to achieve success. Setting reasonable timeframes, but also challenging myself are going to be important to be successful with a small (online) business. I am going to remind myself that every step I take is a step in the right direction, and just like running a marathon, it is not a sprint, but will take time and dedication, with lots of small achievements along the way. I am feeling inspired today by the 57,000 people I saw run in the marathon. Perhaps I will even sign up for one myself!!
