Facing up to the dark side of entrepreneurship

This is my first post in over a month and it's been a hard journey of self realisation.

Working and building my business is more energy zapping than I had initially thought, but I was willing to give it a go and learn to use the WA program.

There were days when having a full time job and emerging business felt like the biggest crime that can be committed by a middle-aged family person.

The marriage stocks would plummet.... Family standing would go down.... Everyone would talk behind your back on your foolishness.

How naïve could you be to give up on your executive career pathway ?

We leave our jobs or change our plans out of frustration, salary issues, family issues and many other reasons.

For me, the fascination to do something of my own was bigger than any of the issues I mentioned above.

I had a friend who has relocated to Singapore and whenever I spoke to him on the phone, he had wonderful entrepreneurial experiences to share with me.

The stories ranged from how he does sales despite being from the technical background to the day-to-day challenges he faced.

I was fascinated. Soon Fascination turned into inspiration... and I began the search to find a place to learn and pursued my passion for Rum and stories...

I assessed my current position as an Operations Director and realised it wasn't enough.

One fine day, I took the offer of redundancy. and joined the WA family.

The message: take a chance, but be prepared for long nights of work, ridicule and self-doubt.

Despite that, It's always worth it to hear how proud your children are of you.

Hey David,
Glad to have you aboard. Knock 'em dead!
Don

You are right. We are always compared to the status quo... and entrepreneurship is not for the weak because it takes courage. Good is the enemy of Great. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life.

Thanks Stanley. I like the good and great comment. I've never heard that one before but i will remember it.

Love the message, thanks for sharing

You are certainly correct, Cashain! Best continued success to you as you soldier on!

You are brave to leave your job to build your affiliate marketing business. Can I assume you do have funds to pay for the bills until your affiliate marketing business pays you a replacement income?

Can I also assume you now have more time during the day to work on your business? If that is the case, go all out and write at least one post every two days. Google starts to recognize you as an authority when you hit that 100 post mark assuming these are all quality posts that your potential customers will find helpful in making a buying decision.

Communicate with those at Wealthy Affiliate who are making six figure incomes and get advice from them.

I feel your decision to go full time building your business can work out quite well.

All the best to you.

Edwin

Hi Edwin,
Thanks for your comments. It was a clear cut as leaving the job as I have had to take another job after a period of redundancy to cover the bills so i am doing both at the same time; hence burning the candle at both ends !
You make some good points and I will keep on going.
