I messed up and didn't sleep last night and had a super long day today. >.< SO tired right now. Lucky for me I knocked out the meat and potatoes this morning while I wasn't sleeping!

I went in kind of hard.

Task 1: Create a New "Keyword Rich" Post

I wrote a "keyword rich" post built around a YouTube video that ranks first page, and sometimes first, on both Google and YouTube. I did that and...

...then I went deep with it! I wanted to see what kind of new toys YouTube had behind the scenes. Check this out!

It's an editor where you can control what the last 20 seconds of a video has and overlay a bunch of different things (subscribe buttons, links to other videos, off site links, etc.) What I made ended up looking like this (text around the picture in the upper left happens on mouse over).

I have a feeling it's limited to 20 seconds because I think you can automatically add an up to 20 second post roll to videos and then use the tools above to make them interactive. I don't watch many YouTube videos, but now I understand how the Daily Show ones are made.

At the end of every video they ask for a subscribe. I think I've seen three or four different ones. I'll break it down.

1. The subscribe field is below. I used something different in my editor, but it basically creates a field you can move around in the video hover over a part of the video.

2. The two videos on the side are also fields that can be moved around. That might just be a blue rectangle with "Watch More From..." at the top and Google populates the rest.

3. This is something that can automatically be added to the end of any video. You can make custom templates in the editor. So the video is already made and you throw the three fields on top and choose 2 videos or let google do it.

Pretty cool stuff! I'm not sure how much of this is available to new accounts, but it seems like YouTube unlocks a lot of stuff a lot faster than it used to though.

YouTube has all kind of cool tricks now but... That's a whole different department that WA doesn't cover out of the gate. I'll keep playing with it and update you as I learn new things.

But I didn't stop there!

Amazon Affiliate

Seeing as I had just wrote a "keyword rich" post and linked to it from the Tubes, I figured I might as well go ahead and setup my Amazon affiliate account!

That was a really painless process. What I did with that was add a link to the book I used to learn how to Juggle with.

It's down near the end of the blog post right now, but I'm going to reedit it up to the top of the page. Something like "If you want to learn from a real master get the book I got to learn. It even comes with practice sacks!"

YouTube and SEO

I'm going to end up doing some weird blend of YouTubing and blogging and connecting the two. I'm still going to work through the courses, but I'll be making little tweaks here and there because of stuff I have swimming out there already. I'm not exactly sure where the "YouTubing" thing is going to take me. I had the "YouTube Celebrity" thing sorted for a second, but... it wasn't what I really wanted to do! lol Well, not the way I was doing it at the time.

What I'm really interested in, and it's what I like about this place, is that I want to be able to teach people how to do something that's available to pretty much anyone willing to put in the elbow grease. I'm almost more interested in creating things that educate and develop people. Not entertainment (but that's fun too!)

Hacking the Feedback Engine (White Hat)

I plan on going kind of nuts with the feedback engine. Something came to mind that will help me streamline my comment writing process and deliver better answers faster.

1. I'm going to start copying and pasting my completely organic responses into a Google Doc.
2. I'm going to look for "trends" in the responses I give.
3. I'm going to create mini templated responses. That I can copy and paste into my replies.

Seems like it might work... It definitely won't be "spam". I'll always deliver actionable feedback!

Not sure why it's sideways but I'm too tired to figure it out...

Almost forgot! I'm going to stop going through the main courses and focus on this side course (like the main course told me to) starting tomorrow.
