Social networking issues

Today's accomplishments: I set up Google Analytics and applied for Adsense. So far so good.

But now, I'm starting Level 4, which focuses on social Networking. Aaaah... you would think this would be super easy but I generally am a private sorta person, preferring to keep under the radar. I have a Facebook account with no profile picture, I post up pictures for a day and take them down by the next day. My friend list is less than 100 and have my settings so private that people can hardly find me. I read other people's posts but hardly post anything myself, lol

I've never signed up for Twitter or Instagram. And I don't like putting my picture up on all these sites! Maybe I should get a particular cartoon pic and stick to that one?

I recently set up the G+ and the Pinterest. I shared the G+ account when we reached that part of the course. I added one person I think. This takes up so much time... how do you guys manage? Do you decide to check on one account per day or something?

Somebody, please reply... I could use some extra motivation for this part!

Took me a long time to finish stage 4. But once you get through it stage 5 should be easy as its focus is on content. So stick around!

Hey Cathy, good to hear that you did it in spite of the lenght of time it took. Definitely sticking around, just needed to complain a bit and see if anybody else felt like I do ;-)

You can cartoonise an image of yourself if that helps. Here are some links to sites that do that.

I set aside time in my working schedule for social stuff, but don't spend long, maybe 30 mins total. You might want to have a look at a blog post I did about Twitter, it could help. I don't use Facebook to promote my sites, I keep it for friends and family.

You don't HAVE to use social networks, I know members here who don't. If you do decide to use them for your business why not just learn one, get used to it, till you feel comfortable. Then you might feel ready to try another one.
I would say out of them all, Pinterest is the most private. You are putting pictures about your business on there and not really interacting in a social way like on Facebook.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Kathy, your answer was VERY helpful. It sounds more manageable to start with one and see how it goes. I will check the links you suggested as well. Thank you so much.

You're welcome. :)

A good way to stay on top of social networking is to devote 15 minutes per day to it. Check the main social media sources, interact some, and then move along with your day and your business!

Hey Dan, thanks for responding. Yes I think thats a good suggestion too. Keep it short.
