Traffic ups and downs, what to do next?

I have been using a great on-page SEO tool called Yoast which seems to have helped my pages rank higher. In fact, it's after I started using it that I begin to have over a thousand visits monthly. I thought that was what I was missing to finally see my website take a leap forward.

I was thrilled to see my monthly traffic in July at 1400 visits!

Then it started to slow down. I've looked today and it now has dramatically dropped to 308 visits. It's been this way for over a month. I'm so deceived to see that I'm at the same point I was when my website was only a few weeks old.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if it's just a normal low season situation. My website is about weddings and the wedding season is coming to end. I guess less people are looking for the topics I write about, that makes sense. I'll keep writing quality content and hopefully it will get better in a few months.

Since my website conversion pages haven't generated any income, I'm really hoping to see the visits go up and learn what I should do for this to happen. I have so much to learn and no idea which path to take.

This is quite normal.
It is more important, in my opinion, to know where your traffic is coming from.
Direct and referral traffic won't make you money.
It's more important to get organic traffic and from social media.

Thanks Moritz,
I'm focussing on that right now by searching for communities in Google + that actually engage with actual people not companies who want to sale their stuff. Haven't found them yet.
Do you have any suggestions for organic traffic as well?

Organic traffic needs time.
I don't know how old your site is, but to get organic traffic, you need quite a bit content that ranks high on the search engines.
My site is about 5 months old (10 pages and 50 posts) and starts picking up organic traffic.
The first 2-3 months it didn't see much organic traffic, if any.

It,s been 7 months and almost 40 posts... I guess I'll have to be patient. Thanks again!

Yes, don't worry.
If you follow all the steps laid out in the training here on WA, organic traffic will come.
There is some additional training from members here, too, that can help in that case.

All of my websites have done the same thing over the past month. Traffic peaked in mid-August, then plummeted. I wrote about this very thing on WA a few weeks ago and many members were experiencing the exact same thing. Seems to be happening across the board.

Thanks Sherlock77, it's good to know. I read your article. People seem to be mitigated, though. Hope it gets better
