Human Doings v Human Beings
Imagine what life would be like if we referred to ourselves as "human doings" v. "human beings!" Stevecox and I joked about this the other day, and decided we'd do something to promote it (both of us came of age in the 1960s, which might have something to do with this, as we apent all those years contemplating our navels to find answers for the universe!)
If you were taught from early childhood that you were a "human doing," how do you think that would affect you now?

Hey Carol,
This "Being" is "Doing" just what you wanted - "Responding"!
It reminds me of Q & A!!!!
Cheers,
Ken
LOL! I like your response about responding!! I can do more Q & A along the way if you want .. :-)
Hi Carol,
This is a unique take on humans as a whole!! It does make you think about what we do versus what we are. I really like your analogy of the matter. Thanks so much for the insight. Have a good day.

What started out as some joking comments turned out to have depth. Who woulda thunk it? I'm going to spend more time asking myself if I want to do or be at any given time. Thanks for your response.
We are still in the era of human DOINGS, although quite a few explore the BEING part in spiritual practice. The art is, to combine both.
You're right on! The art is to combine both! I'm aiming to be more mindful about this. Thanks for responding.
I think that this is our present task as human beings: mindfulness about what we are doing, how we are doing it and who we are in the face of what is happening in our lives.
"Being" is a good thing, because it allows you to live in the moment by just being, which I've heard is an aspirational goal for people who spend all their time doing...
But then again, a synonym for too much being is "laziness." Of which I don't see any evidence in you .. :-)
Marvelous Carol! I think you and I should stick with the navel contemplation route (LOL) and be......Human Beings!
GREAT post my friend!
Steve
Oh no, Steve. You're not backtracking, are you? We didn't solve very many universe problems then, so "being" won't solve anything now!

I am more on the "being" side than "doing", I haven't accomplished my goal yet but done many things for the sake of families and some friends. Nice post, Carol.
Reframe: you're accomplishing your goal of doing so many things for your family and friends. The goal of doing things for yourself is still waiting to happen ... How's that? :-)
