Hacked!
Hi everyone -
It's been 2 very busy months since I last posted a blog here. Winter holidays, then a busy January at work, and then our second consecutive year of snowbirding, this time in North Carolina. I have also been rethinking my website - adding new material and a blog, broadening the focus, and making some cosmetic changes. I haven't done anything with it yet. I've been absent but not permanently deployed.
I had occasion to show me website to a new patient today. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered that one of my posts had been cut out, and replaced with an ad for Cialis. ACCCCKKKKK! I've been hacked! Of course, I removed the Cialis ad, but I cant find the original post to replace it. Oh welll ... If one post had to be sacrificed, this was probably my least favorite so far.
Fortunately, my website does not have an established readership yet, so - quite likely - nobody is the wiser.
We've had conversations here about the vulnerability of our online work, and the need to have back-ups. I want to emphasize that point for newbies. Most of us are not sophisticated with website development and management; however, many web trolls are, and their idea of mischief is to compromise others' work.
Hope all is well with the WA community. I've missed being here, but life is taking me elsewhere at the moment... in exciting professional directions, actually.
So, I'll renew my membership and domain when they come due, and keep restructuring the website mentally and visually, until I can actually do it directly.
Take care!

Sounds like a plan my friend! One of my sites was completely hacked also (not my main one). Support fixed it right away though. Hope you are well and enjoyed the south!
Hey, Robin! How are you?? Hope all is well. Thanks for checking in. I thought about contacting support, but wanted to see first if U could figure it out myself.
Good to hear from you. Good to hear that life has taken you in exciting professional directions. All the best to you. As for sites getting hacked, mine have been okay so far. Sorry to hear about yours.
Hi, Darlene! Thanks for responding! Yes, my professional life took a nice turn. The thing I love most professionally is to develop a new program or initiative, and that's exactly what I've been asked to do at the primary care practice with which I'm affiliated. It will mean working more hours, but it will also mean a nice boost in consultant reimbursement.... and I still like money! Retirement has tentatively been pushed back to August 31, 2019, which is when my next professional license will expire. If I don't renew it, then I won't be able to practice anymore, so that's what I'lol do. This will give me 2 1/2 years to complete and tweak the initiative, and then find someone to replace me. I'll be 67, which seems like a good time. Of course, if I'm not quite ready then, I can always get one more 2-year license ...
Hope all is well with you.
Hey Carol, I had something similar happen recently. I had a post replaced with a graphic and very vulgar text. You can actually revert the changes and recover your original blog post so you don't lose all your work. Then make sure you update your site and all plugins and remove the admin user login. :)

Hi Carol, I like the way you deal with problems. Irv.
Thanks, Irv. No sense getting bent out of shape over little nasty things that other people do to disrupt one's life ...
