Some of you may be asking yourself what is a Golden Egg it is the same as a Golden Nugget - LOL

Okay, okay a golden egg/nugget is a bit if very helpful information mostly shared with more experienced people to help the not so experienced over come so of the obstacles that may fall into their path toward success.

So, This is just some of the different helpful hints that I have gathered over the years, I tried to keep it short, but this is one of those topics that I could literally write about for hours on end. But I thought 12 would be a great start for many to concentrate on and help when starting up their online businesses or within their first two years while waiting for their site to start reaching maturity.

These helpful hints apply to any business model mature or brand new, and are purposefully generic in nature to use as a guideline of future and further research into each of the categories mentioned.

1. Remember you are not a sales person!

So don't try selling the product you promote. People can see right through you and can easily tell if you are trying to sell it to them or simply informing them all about the product. There is a fine line between promoting and selling but there is a difference, if you don’t know this you need to learn it. Ask someone to help you so you know the difference.

2. Be consistent in everything you do with your websites.

A website needs daily attention after it has matured. This will vary depending on the site some may require 5 minutes twice a day, and others may require an hour of your attention daily. Never go more than 24 hours without checking and replying to your visitor’s comments NEVER!

Once you have been submitting material on a set schedule don’t vary from that schedule unless a special event or something out of the ordinary is happening, and if this is the case let your readers know. In other words if you submit material to your site one blog every third day keep that pace or people will visit your site to read new material and none will be posted and they will find another site to start going to. You are providing them with a service - something niche related for them to read. When the service stops or gets interrupted they will find someone that can provide them with what they want.

3. Learn and watch your numbers in Google Search Console.

Those numbers tell you what our visitors are doing while on your website use them as a guide to tell you which way to take your website. For example: If your visitors are staying on your blog about red dyes and how it affects your body, twice as long, than any other blog on your website.

This tells you, your next couple of blogs should be closely related to that topic because that is what they are reading about, and they will want to read more about that, and not so much what you want to write about.

Learn and feed your audience that way they will often return, comment frequently, and look at the products you suggest to them to buy. If, you fulfill their needs they will in turn fulfill yours by using your links to buy the products you are promoting.

4. Remember you are writing for your audience's benefit not to make money

Yes people just like you can tell the fakes from the people that are writing for a purpose, they can tell the difference just like you can. Once you realize, you are there to help others solve their similar problems you faced (niche related) then the money will flow.

The more people you help solve a common problem the more they will trust your judgment and in their eyes you will be their authoritative resource on everything concerning your niche. And we all know the more authoritative effluence you have over someone the more chances they will buy what you are suggesting to them to use to solve that problem.

5. Make it personal

Audiences reading your material and will resonate better with you if you make it as personal (niche related that is) as possible. As you tell them what happen explain to them your thoughts, feelings, or reactions. In other words don’t be all the fact kind of newspaper report, but a friend having a causal conversation with them.

Example 1:

I don't like this particular leash design because it always seems to be twisting up around wrist and ends up hurting me, also it keeps getting kinked all the time, that’s why I bought the other model it does not do that.

Is Better Than:

This leash gets twisted that’s why I bought the other model.

Example 2:

John told me to stop.

This is Better:

It really hurt my feeling when John told me to stop doing what I was doing, because I thought I was actually helping him.

(See the difference your audience can also)

6. When writing a product review give your honest opinion and impression of the product,

If there is something you do not like about the product tell people and also tell them the things you like about it (that's what they really want to know your honest opinion)

Not that you think it is the best darn thing they could ever use to make a milk shake with, but rather speeds 1- 3 don't seem to do much, but watch out for speeds 8 and 9, because if the lid is not on tight you will be cleaning the entire kitchen and ceiling later.

7. You can still make commissions on the products you don't like.

I have sold many products over the years that I will not personally use again and do not endorse, but just because I don't like it doesn't mean that someone else is not going to like it also. Also, keep this in mind when you are writing your product reviews - it can make or break a sale.

I created a product review list of SEO books on my website I have gotten commissions from some of the books on the bottom of my list and not one from my number one choice, so image the commissions I would have lost already (6 so far) if I only provided a link to the book I liked and not the others!!

8. If you read competitors blogs leave them a comment.

This one baffles some people sometimes, they say but aren’t you helping your competitor get a better Search Engine Results Page/Position (SERP), and the direct immediate answer to that question. Is yes you are, but you are also planting a seed or leaving a bread crumb.

One comment could interest the curiosity of someone that reads that comment to find more out about you because of it, and that is when you will benefit from the comment. When they find you and visit your website because it may contain just the right content to intrigue them to sign up under your referral plan instead of the other person’s referral plan where you planted the seed at.

9. You control your attitude and mindset.

Think positive even if the events happening around you all seem to be bad, look on the bright side of everything.

Example:

Man I just ran out of staples now I have to drive all the way into town just to pick some up.

Or look on the bright side:

Well since I ran out of staples might as well take a break now and go into town and pick up some more and the others things on my to buy list also (yes I actually have one of those in my cellphone).

To me this is the most import of all these helpful hints, why because without a goal you do not know where you are heading (business wise that is).

Jim often told me, “You don’t set goals to achieve the goal, you set goals to force yourself to make certain accomplishments that it will take to achieve the goal, and not necessarily the goal itself”. I agree with that to a degree, I however feel the goal can be just as important because it provides you with a sense of direction and purpose.

A simple goal can be your single most motivating factor that gets you up and going every single morning, it plots the direct you just have to create the plan of action (that’s the part where you learn whatever it takes to learn to get you to the goal).

And there are two different types of goals short term and long term. Know the difference because it can make all the difference in the world to how your business grows.

11. If you don’t ask you will never know.

A very old and wise person once told me if you ask a stupid question you only look the fool for a couple of minutes, but if you don’t ask that question it could potentially affect the rest of our life. So with that I say ask the question no matter how stupid you think it might be.

If it is a truly foolish question (I do not believe there is such a thing) you will only have a red face for a minute or two. On the other hand if you do not ask that question and it makes a huge difference as to whether your website will make money or not it could result in you giving up on affiliate marketing (because you tried it for 2 years and are not making any money from it) and we certainly don’t want that to happen!

Example:

Do I need to put an affiliate link to the products I am promoting on the product review page?

To most of us this may look like an unnecessary question, but the truth is no you don’t need to post an affiliate link on your product review page. You can have just a banner to say Amazon in your side bar and your visitor can actually use it to get to amazon to buy the product of your product review.

But we all know that it is better to have the link of the actual product on the product review page because it makes it a no brainer and much easier for our visitor to click the link then purchase the product.

12. Be able to adapt to the changes

If you cannot adapt to changes by the search engines or internet trends as they occur, your business will struggle. Fall numerous times that’s how you learn what is not working for you, and what will work. Another way is to follow in the footsteps of another person that has made the same path before you they can sort of escort you around all the pits and traps along your journey.

HOW DOES WA FIT IN HERE

This is why WA is so important to all of its members. Not only is there a cornucopia of information provided to its members in the thousands of member created tutorials, equally important within all of the blogs submitted by members over the years. But also there are literary thousands and thousands of eyes watching the current market and observing the current trends and changes as they happen (Google + being scrapped, the first blog was posted here only hours after the official announcement was made public) keeping all of us informed of these changes so we can adapt to the changes as they happen and not after the fact.

In Conclusion

These are just a dozen quick golden eggs/nuggets that will help many members here that are striving to succeed with their blogs, online businesses, or websites. There are many more but to me these 12 are some of the more important ones aimed at helping bloggers and affiliate marketers in general, that I have learned over the years.

If any of you have a golden egg/nugget that you feel is vital to any blog writer, affiliate marketer, or online business website owner please feel free to share. The more that share, the more it benefits us all so anyone that reads this discussion can gather the information from this discussion and use it to help them on their journey to becoming successful.

Now there is no easy path to success, but this information could make it just a little easier for many to learn how to succeed.

Great info,

Thank you for the share. I feel that i got a lot out of it. I like Make It Personal, when you read you play it back in your head and can almost hear the voice of the writer. The words/advice here are good but I think I love that you included specific examples more.

Sucks to hear about Google+ just when I was trying to start on it. I guess it just leaves me to focus on other social media outlets.

Thanks again for the nuggets. I think I may use this as a bonus for new referrals. I think we can all get a lot out of it.

Hello Justin,

Yes when writing a blog you took take the causal conversation approach and what are describe is what you should strive to achieve even if you have to get a bit technical.

Well look at this way with Google + now you can put your efforts toward the other social medias where those efforts with help your business not just waste your time.

Thank you for your kind words and your comment,

Calvin

"The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask".
We will now get back to working toward our golden eggs!
