Conversations With Concerned Friends!

Over the weekend I met with some good friends, who expressed their concern about the amount of time that I seemed to be ‘playing about’ on the internet. Why wasn’t I putting this time to ‘good use’?

They were worried that I seemed to be wasting time when I could be doing other ‘useful things’? These were people who are normally reactive to life and in my view, live within fairly narrow boundaries.

Boundaries which have been determined by others, their parents long ago, their boss or their own view of society’s expectations. They don’t question or explore other options.

Now, if I am honest I have lived (albeit usually uncomfortably) within many of these constraints much of my life. So, I understood their concerns, but what I found more disheartening was that they had no interest in my explanations.

I wasn’t trying to justify myself, going in with missionary zeal or trying to ‘convert’ them to do the same as me. Just trying to answer what I thought was a question.

I was quite shocked and disappointed by the fact I discovered they had no interest, curiosity or imagination about anything new and different. I have always felt that these are vital attributes that even a small child should be encouraged to develop.

The world is a wonderful place if you can look in wonder at nature or appreciate kind acts from people who care. What an amazing place the world is when you can really ‘see’ what you are looking at!

I walked away from that conversation with the biggest sigh of relief, that I understand that ‘your own’ world is what you make it. I truly do love what I do, I’m going to keep on doing it and I hope to help other people to do what they love too!

I have spent the rest of the weekend thanking my lucky stars that I found Wealthy Affiliates. That Kyle, Carson and their magic team continue to offer this incredible cutting-edge opportunity to build your world as you want it.

So a huge thank you to all of you who give your time to advise, guide and support, your efforts are truly appreciated!

I am so grateful to be working within this caring, supportive, understanding community.

Have faith in what you are doing... and KEEP DOING IT! Sue 😊

Love this wonderful post !! Thank you, Sue!

I've found you cannot easily convert people's belief's so you shouldn't waste time trying. Most people only see the "tip of the iceberg."

Continue to bond with others with similar aspirations, and open-mindedness like those here at WA.

I hope you will find what you are looking for and achieve great success!

Kaju

Found it Kaju! Not going anywhere, I love it here! Thanks, Sue :)

I do not deal with a lot of people, face to face. (Although that is how I would like to!)

But when I do and they seem to denigrate what I do, they rarely ask me what I am doing so I don't have to tell most of them that I spend my time 'Checking email'

Yup, that sounds the most sensible option Mickey! Keep your own counsel, Sue :)

Shame! People are always scared of what they don't understand. It's like clever people trying to teach the rest to climb out of their square boxes.
If it wasn't for the inventive and open minded types in this World, they would not be enjoying all the luxuries in life these folks take for granted every day!
Not normally bugged what the "simple minded" have to say but this had to be said.
keep on what you're doing and be proud that you can see far beyond your own nose!!

Haha! Jeff you did make me chuckle! Many thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I much appreciate your sentiments, Sue :)

Good afternoon Sue,

I have similar experiences with friends and it disappoints me. I sent them all my websites by the end of April and asked them to visit and leave a comment. Only about a third has done so even after asking more than once, oh well.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Taetske, great to hear from you! Why are people so reluctant to be helpful? Usually about things which don't take much effort, but mean a lot to those involved. Maybe laziness!

Anyway, thank you for taking the trouble to read and comment! It's always a pleasure to hear from you, I wish you a happy, positive week, Sue :)

Thanks for sharing this. I know how hard it can be when your family and friends think your ideas way out there. I have struggled with this my whole life. I have has many different ideas for products or businesses that would make a profit, but nobody ever believed in my. So, I never took those ideas any further.

Now, I have finally reached a point in my life where I can get past the all the negativity and move forward with what I want to do.

Hi Frank, good to see you, thanks for the comments. You keep going, onwards and upwards, Sue :)

Great post! I have shared your experience with my close family being the ney sayers! I too love WA and the wonderful members and will not allow their negativity to sway me.
Keep up the great work and smile when you show them how what you love is fruitful!
Best wishes,
Valerie

Hi T, looking forward to your blog! Glad you liked the post, keep in touch! Sue :)

I wrote that Blog and it was good,,,I think. I wrote it, hit publish, and I haven't been able to find it since. I guess it is floating around out on the web somewhere!!! I don't know what to do about it. I'm going to rewrite it and hopefully post it this time?!?!?!

Oh no, I hate it when that happens! If you rewrite it or find it, let me know? I'd love to read it! Good luck, Sue :)

Will Do Sue!!! I am going to rewrite it. I have given up on trying to locate it. It's floating around amimlessly somewhere in cyber-space...LOL!! a rewrite will be easier!!!

Stay tuned!!!!!!

T

:))

I have it all around me!

I don't let my other responsibilities and work go so that helps (not implying at all that you do either). I'm sure they miss not spending more time with you and don't understand what you are working on.

Just keep moving on and working forward. As long as you believe in yourself that's what matters.

Success is the best proof you can have, unfortunately, some are not going to believe in you in this type venture until they see some valid proof materialize, no matter what you say to them.

Just my experience and 2 cents worth!

Hi Cindy, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment. I really appreciate your thoughts! Have a productive week, Sue :)

Sue, this is a very common reaction among people who hasn't discovered the wonders of the digital world yet, I believe. I haven't even told all friends about my online venture yet, because of that reason.

I'm as grateful to WA, Kyle & Carson and their team as you are. Of course I'm as grateful for having connection to the wonderful WA-community.

Yes, let's keep going!
:-)

P.S. Love the pictures in your post.

Pernilla, so great that you stopped by to comment! Have a great week, many thanks, Sue :)
