Week One Progress Report

Wow, what a week! I joined WA less than a week ago and I feel it is time to share my progress (that, and my current lesson told me too...). So, without further ado, here is my status update:

Progress So Far

I have been working steadily through the Certification and am just finishing up the second Course. More importantly, I have met a lot of great people through the WA platform and I look forward to getting to know even more in this great community!

My Niche

When doing research on niche's I decided to go with one that was near and dear to my heart. Both of my children have recently become very interested in building with Lego's, and I have been a fan of the brand since I was 5. This means I have a lot of personal knowledge of the brand and can hopefully provide insight to my readers. So far I have written 3 pages of content as well as 3 blog posts covering various aspects of selecting and building Lego sets. I am very excited to start work on the next one too and look forward to carrying this momentum through the next 6-12 months.

Successes?

This is not my first attempt to start an online business. It is, however, the first time I feel like I truly "get" the process. I have a much better understanding now of how to do keyword research that I gained in the previous 4 years of messing around with the internet and blogging. I am not even sure why I struggled with the concept so long now that I "get" it, but I look forward to doing more research in the coming months!

The Next 3 Months

Now it is time to really focus on building out my content and building up my readership. I haven't received any natural search traffic yet, but I feel confident with the techniques I have learned to date that I can start ranking on page one. Now I just need to focus on writing more targeted posts and driving traffic to my site.

The Next 6 Months

With the amount of traffic in my niche and the lack of major competitors, I am hopeful that by the end of 6 months I will be making my initial goal of $500 per month. I know this is a little ambitious, but I am confident that following the WA way will lead me toward success! I will be sure to post more of these status updates as I hit each major milestone in the process!
