First Website Up and Running
For my first website, I decided to target the "affiliate marketing" niche...I don't know if this is too broad or not, I guess we will find out. I figure I can always fine tune my content towards a specific aspect of affiliate marketing if I want to. I didn't want to mess around too much with my first site and keep things simple...one product to start with a niche that's directly related. I'm promoting WA, so I wanted to directly target people already interested in affiliate marketing to increase conversions. It seems this would be easier rather than selling to someone who doesn't know what affiliate marketing is.
The domain name I ended up with is RedHotAffiliate.com. It's not bad...not too long, catchy & brandable, easy to remember. I'm pretty sure I spent WAY more time trying to find a good name than I did choosing a niche! It is not easy these days. I would HIGHLY recommend using one of the free domain name generators out there to come up with domain names! My favorite is Lean Domain Search...you will come up with great names you'd never even thought of. I would also recommend going with a .com name for your site right from the start, rather than a free blog domain. This shows people you are running a professional website, not just a blog.
Another thing to note, I did not use the hosting and sitebuilder within WA fro this site. Nothing against Kyle, Carson, or WA, just personal preference....I don't feel comfortable putting all my money-making eggs in the same basket. I do want to try out the WA site builder though so maybe I'll use it for the next website.
