Improve engagement: let visitors know when you approve a comment

Receiving comments is great. It's good for your rankings in search engines (tip: use Ecosia.org because this company plants trees for every search you do), it feels good to be noticed and it's a great way to interact with your audience.
Interaction is fun and it helps build a true following that comes back for more of your blog posts. So it pays to respond to people when they leave a comment on your website. Unfortunately, they don't see it when you react. They don't get a notification. Unless you make sure they do.
I use a plugin to fix this. It's a simple but effective plugin: Comment Approved by Niels van Renselaar. It automatically sends an email to people when their comments are approved, so they can check them out.

Downside: it only sends an email when you approve their comments, not when you answer them.
Upside: it's a small plugin that doesn't slow down your site.

Do you have a system to notify people about their comments? If so, what are you using? Are you satisfied with it? Drop me a line in the comments if you have a plugin or a system that you love. I'm curious what's out there.
