My Big Mouth Paid Off!
If you've read my previous blog post, you know I just inherited one of my bosses websites to experiment with.
Apparently I must be doing a descent enough job because I now have 2 of his sites to work with! The first test subject, Starving Students Moving, (not to be confused with the company in the States please!) has had a face-lift and is much better than it was. I'm trying to figure out what to do about pictures though; unfortunately, the company has no logo or trucks.
The second, Coops Moving, can be viewed in all it's beastly glory for a day or two before I tackle it head-on! Hurry if you want to take a sneak-peek at the grotesqueness; I cannot handle an eyesore like this for long.
I was a little leery when my boss opened the topic but I sat and heard him out anyway. It turns out he is willing to give me $400 per month for ranking them higher in the search engines! Oh yeah, there are commissions involved too! Aaahh, the taste of VICTORY!!!!!! A small victory, but a victory all the same.
The thing of it is, they are both moving companies and have identical rates. Does anyone have any advice here? I'm wondering what I should do about that SEO-wise...any ideas?
I'll take any other suggestions you may have for me too *wink, wink*.

That 2nd website, Coops Moving, is very poorly laid out in my opinion. SEO wise, there's guides here in WA to help you out. Google Places is 1 big place to start looking at. Simply trying to rank your current content higher would be considered black hat unless you were changing the tags in it. ~ Seth
You bet Coops is laid out poorly; Starving Students' website looked like that a week ago....not bad for maybe 12-14 hours, eh? Starving Students will be getting listed soon and I believe Coops already is :) I won't be able to get any good effort in for a bit though. It's month-end and I actually work as a Driver for both companies. LOL can you say busy? I think I have back-linking for authority understood too.
Once I get either one to first page I'm whipping out a contract on him! Gotta remember to have my video up and recording.
Jay has a video about how to get good backlinks. Backlinks are primarily for faster indexing, and spreading your wings I guess you might say. Try and get 100 PR3 or higher backlinks to each of those websites, and you'll be doing them a huge favor. ~ Seth
