On Social (In)Security; or Why I'm at Wealthy Affiliate (WA)

I posted this in the reply I gave to an answer of a question that someone had asked. After I wrote this I decided to post it here in the hopes that other people that need to see it might read it and benefit from it in some way.

Specifically this is targeting younger folks, the disabled, and the elderly. All of you are free to read it of course and if it means something to you that's great. If not, I probably don't have anything else for you...... I want to wish all of those at WA the best in their journey to whatever success means to them.

My struggles are what brought me to WA. I MUST make this work, I have no choice. I get less than $900 per month from Social Insecurity after 46 years of working.

I don't want or need anyone to feel sorry for me, but I do want people to understand where some people are coming from. This isn't I want to see the world in my lifetime money I am seeking. It's my kitchen floor has a hole in it and my air conditioning doesn't work in the southern USA summer money.

My life hasn't been easy and much of that was because of my own decisions. THAT is why I like to help younger people, the disabled, and the elderly. Younger people still have time to make choices which can change their lives. The disabled and the elderly? Well, just a little bit of extra money may mean more to them than you will ever know.

Do you really think that those in their 70's and 80's WANT to be greeters at WalMart? In most cases, no they don't. They are there so that they can eat or pay medical bills, or aren't so lonely they are bored to death.

The disabled? I can barely walk the length of my home now. Where could I work? I have more doctors than most people have in a lifetime. THAT is why I try to encourage people to come here, BUT it isn't for everyone.

I truly believe that with time and steady work I can make WA work for me. Whether I can hold on that long financially or not only time will tell. If I can that's great, if not I'll have done my best. It's all that I can do......

Now that I have written this I feel somewhat better. I am going to post this answer to my WA blog in hopes that it can help someone else.

Bryan thank you for posting this . I am also disabled and i came here because I'm tired of not having enough money to get my teeth fixed and there is really not much money left after i pay our bills . I hope to at least make a couple hundred extra dollars a month . I am willing to put in the work to get there . and if by some miracle i do better then a couple hundred a month well that would tickle me pink :) Thanks again for the encouraging words .

You are very welcome! I got tired of people telling me things like, "Oh, you're on Social Security? You're living the good life now!" The sad part was that they truly believed it. When I'd show them my earnings statement it invariably turned to, "Is that all? How are you making it? I thought it was much better than that" But, ALL of your medical bills are paid, right?"

It was literally turning my stomach. Younger people really had no clue. I try to tell them make sure you set yourself up for retirement, but hey, I'm just an old fart that doesn't know anything!

Good luck to you. This will take work and time, but if you'll stick with it and do your best, I think it can work for almost everyone.

Kim, as long as you don't give up because of the amount of time that it takes to get to a steady monetization you'll do fine. You are so right about knowing everything when we are younger. That's going in one of my next blogs!

Please do keep in touch and if you need any help or just a word of encouragement please shoot me a pm. I'm here for anyone, but the young, disabled, and elderly will always hold a special place in my heart.

Bryan thank you so much for this post as I can relate to being disabled after working many years as a nurse. I really want and need this to work for me and have been putting many long hours in reading and viewing content which seems endless.I want to use my passion for nursing to help other nurses elevate their knowledge and love for the career.I wish you much success and blessings in your life. Thank you for the enlightening and motivating yet realistic and sincerely honest article.I consider you a great role model for us all.

Kelli, Thanks, but you're gonna make my head swell lol In addition to your stated desire to help nurses with knowledge and love for their career you may want to look into teaching them ways to stay healthy in that career. I know that nurses often suffer from bad backs and leg pain.

You might be able to work that into your blog and offer certain products as an affiliate to help monetize through that. Maybe mattress sets? Compression stockings? Support footwear?

Just my 2 cents. Wishing you luck in life and success in your online business!

Thank you-I have already jotted some of those ideas down but greatly appreciate your input

Bryan, thanks for sharing your story. It is so awesome that your heart is to help others because you know what so many in our generation or those who are having financial difficulties are going through. I see you on Live Chat helping others a lot and I commend you for that! Your kindness and compassion will be rewarded! Share the love and it will return to you!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I truly believe what you wrote. I have never believed in the keep everything to myself philosophy. I believe that we are to share our knowledge with others in our everyday lives. Best wishes to you!

Best wishes Bryan!

Thanks Howard!
