I got 99 problems and my theme was ALL of them
When I first started building my site, I feel in love with my first theme because the way it made the pictures pop out around you and I thought the visuals would be a great impact on my content.
Since I started building on it (slowly) I felt stuck and I was having a really hard time visually building it out. But changing my theme wasn't even an option for me because I didn't think I would like another one as much, and I had a feeling and heard that it can make you lose a lot of your content.
But then I was advised by a very knowledgable man (PJ) who told me that I needed to get rid of my theme and it was not going to work with my niche. So I began my hunt for a new theme.
I researched the best themes for my niche and then decided to see if there were any niche tailored themes that I could use. And low and behold there was. A part of this was my own fault for not browsing past the first 10 or so themes when I first built my site. I really didn't know what would work best or how I was going to build it out.
So since changing my themes, it's like a light went off in my head and my creativity has been ignited. Last night I stayed up well past the point of when I prefer to go to bed, because I couldn't stop creating the foundation of pages and pictures on how I want my whole layout to look.
It's like all of a sudden, everything that I was stumped on, every road block, and every challenge that I was trying to hurdle over, instantly disappeared and I was flooded with endless ideas, and I finally figured out how to narrow down my niche, rather than bail on it completely like I was considering.
Maybe it was a change of scenery that I needed, maybe me and my site needed some personal space from each other, who knows. All I know is that I am extremely happy that I got over that mental block and I can't wait to start pumping out some content and building out on my vision for my site.
I have taken the link to my site down because it's under construction and I will put it back up once I finish some things first. It's all about being proud of what you're building and want to share it with the world. But first, she needs a little TLC.
I'm not saying that changing your theme is the one-size-fits-all cure for creativity block, but you never know how much it may help you if you are stumped. Change is always good!!

Thanks Arthur. Why don't you Google which themes work best for your niche? That what I did and how I came across my new theme. Sure, I may even change it again down the road, but for now I'm happy with it. I hope you find your inspiration soon!!

Thanks Mike and you're right; PJ's advice was awesome!! I won't be surprised if I hear down the road that I'm still doing a few things wrong. But that's all part of it. Learning from your mistakes :)
I am happy for you Nicki! It sounds like you and your new theme are in a great relationship together! It certainly makes you happy!!! Yay!!! ( I am not being snarky by the way).
I did the opposite I guess. I took a looooong time picking a theme. I tried out several on Site Rubix sites before committing to the one I chose (Nature Space). I researched best themes for SEO, read all the descriptions of the dozens I looked at etc.
I am very glad I took that time to pick a good theme. I hope I can keep it because I really like it and I get a lot of complements on my site. I have only found one problem so far and that is that social media buttons are not built in. I know that isn't a huge thing since you can add the plugins for that but I read that it is best to have them built in to minimize extra plugins.
Other than that, it is perfect for me so far...knock on wood and cross my fingers!
Thanks Jess! Yeah so far it's been great. The upgrade on this theme is outstanding. I may just move it to premium. Unless of course I find something even better!
Yeah your site is awesome. I only took about 30 seconds to pick my theme. Maybe that was my problem; impulse decision!! Lol
I only have Google plus and email built into mine and I had to add the plug in as well.I wish it had the pretty side bar buttons like a lot of themes have. But then again, you'll lose originality if we all look the same! :)

You are right Nicki!Always learning! I learned how to filter and find the right one for me from Marion Black.I was just glancing at themes and saying oh yes this one or that one. But I learned what to do at last.I hope you are happy with your theme now.
