Feeling Defeated, Yet Hopeful.
Hello Wealthy Affiliate Members! I thought I would write a post because I am feeling a bit defeated, but I also am hopeful that my website can be monetized.
Backstory
I have been a part of WA since 2019; however, my blogging/affiliate marketing opportunity has been a bit hit or miss. My full time job takes a chunk of my time, but I am also the admin person for my sons' karate dojo.
On top of that I am involved in volunteering at a local pet shelter, sing on the worship team at my church...and have been working on a food drive called "Yes to Pets" in my community.
Suffice it to say, I am quite busy...and have a family to care for.
Defeated, but not quitting...
With that said, I finally finished the online training this past month, have been able to leave comments on requested sites. I have also been able to put out a few blogs on my site. But...
So far, I have not made any money through affiliate links, and I have only had about $14 from Google Ads .
Because I have not made any money on my site is quite discouraging, so it makes it harder to write anything or come up with any ideas. When I do write something, it takes me a lot longer to get through it.
Help!
Ok...I need a little advice. Please let me know if I can change my trajectory to monetizing my site versus just writing reviews and posts nobody sees.
What is the best training outside of Kyle's initial training to gain more information on how to monetize the site?
1. What training should I look into next to help create amazing posts and reviews?
2. Is there something in SEO that I need to work with? I am still getting over 90 out of 100 for SEO, but it seems like nobody sees my site. (unless I ask for comments)
3. How do I convert readers to customers?
4. Is there a particular theme or layout that gains more traffic?
5. How often should I be posting in social media? I have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Pinterest. Is there one that ranks better than the others?
Ok, That's Enough For Today
It is understandable that it is taking me much longer because I haven't been able to be consistent, but now that I am working 4/10s, I can dedicate 1 day a week for my blog.
Everything looks good on back office except for content writing and plugins (which is only at 70%).
So, what is your trick (if there is one)...how did you get your site monetized? Is this just an issue of time?
I appreciate any input you can provide.
Thanks,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
Traffic can indeed be hard at first. Especially when the site doesn't have a lot of posts for consumption. I'm in a similar spot as far as time, and still just shy of 40 posts on my blog so my traffic is almost non existent despite holding the number one spot for a couple of those posts in search.
I know this isn't likely to be great news, but the first step is to add more content. Somehow you have to find a way, or resign yourself it will take awhile to build up traffic.
Once you get some posts going, many then turn to social media to act as another funnel for traffic. Often newer blogs can capture more traffic initially through social media if done right.
I would recommend you to somehow find some time to look into some of the ongoing AI training here, as it can help you streamline some of the tasks that are time consuming.
One thing to keep in mind as the results look dismal is every new addition is adding value to your digital real estate, and slow as it might be one day you can still build a metropolis.
I urge you to look up one of our esteemed colleagues blog here, ParthaB. He has many posts with detailed information for best practices. A gold mine really.

One day at a time, my friend! Keep going back to the training since it is being upgraded daily, as we speak!

Hi - I did take a look at your site, as listed on your profile.
Realistically, there are two problems.
The first one, as far as I can see, is that you simply don't have enough content, and you haven't been consistent in adding it.
Less than 40 posts in 4 years is not really going to attract Google's attention and show the authority and commitment that Google is looking for.
Realistically, you should be adding a minimum of 10 posts per month.
Obviously, you lead a very busy lifestyle, so this is going to be challenging for you.
I wonder if you research one keyword at a time, and then write that post, and then next time, find another keyword and then write.
If so, that's not very efficient or productive.
The next time you work on your site, take the time to find your next 10 keywords first.
That way, you have a list of topics ready to go.
So, each time you work on your site, you can simply jump straight into writing.
I am also wondering if you fully understand keywords.
A keyword is a phrase or a question that people actually type into Google.
And each of your posts should focus on a keyword that somebody is actually going to search for.
So, unfortunately, some of your posts are never going to rank highly because, realistically, nobody is going to search for "Lisa's Story" or other personal stories.
Your sections on educational topics and coping with loss are much more along the right lines, and this type of informational post is what you need to concentrate on for the next few months.
And try to focus on one specific subject rather than jumping from one random topic to another.
This is called topical authority and it makes it much easier to rank in Google.
So, for example, you could focus on caring for senior dogs.
Here are some ideas of what you could write about.
Are joint supplements beneficial for senior dogs with arthritis?
Are there any special dietary considerations for senior dogs?
Are there exercises that are safe and beneficial for senior dogs?
Are there specific grooming needs for older dogs with mobility issues?
Are there tips for managing incontinence in senior dogs?
How can I adapt my home to accommodate my senior dog's needs?
How can I help my senior dog maintain a healthy weight?
How can I keep my senior dog's teeth and gums healthy?
I hope this helps!
Thanks so much! The personal stories were done at the very beginning of my writing, and I have tried to keep it more based on keyword searches. I do have a number of keywords waiting to be written,..it is just taking me a little longer to get them out.
I appreciate the feedback!!!
