Keeping On

I've flying through the training, but it's really draining me! Having a 9-5 and working on my own stuff is so difficult. I know I'll have to work super hard for the next few years to build this thing up.

I have some short-term goals to keep me motivated:

By 3 months in (posting 3x per week): have made 1st $1

By 6 months in (posting 2x per week): make enough to cover WA membership

By 9 months in (posting 2x per week): be consistently making enough to cover WA membership, plus a few dollars extra

By 1 year in: be making enough to cover WA membership, plus enough to cover my weekly ice skating lessons.

Personally I wouldn't put so much pressure on yourself. Just relax and take baby steps. Believe in yourself. You can do this..

I think some of your content goals may be aggressive to sustain. You may want to shoot for 1-2 posts per week. That is manageable when you have all this other stuff on your plate. You can boost up the content as you start to get traction.

Eventually when I was making enough money then I was able to boost my content production by outsourcing it to writers I trained. So that's something to build up to.

That's good advice, Eddy! Maybe I should dial it back a bit...I've written 7 posts this week. Although they're not getting traffic at all.

Well the traffic may come weeks or months down the line assuming you're apply what Jay teaches here: But i think it's more sustainable to do 1-2 articles per week. Google likes to see consistency. And you don't want to burn out or run out of things to write where you go off the radar for a few weeks because you have run out of content to write.

Thank you :). I'm pretty sure I've watched all these but I'll double check.

Okay, if you did and you're applying it then you're doing great.

It is wonderful to have goals and you have established some really great ones. The only thing I would like to say is just be aware "life" sometimes gets in the way. Unexpected things happen so be prepared to be flexible when you have to be. If the unexpected happens, don't get down on yourself. Just be flexible and perhaps adjust your goals. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that.

Great job of it so far. Pace yourself so you don't burn out and ask this community for help if / when you get stuck.

Keep up the great work. You got this!!

Wishing you all the best.

Kind regards,
Yvette

I agree, doing this while working full time can be difficult, but it is also worth it!

You've put yourself on the right path by not only setting goals for yourself, but you've set realistic goals.

One thing that can help is to put those goals in writhing and when things start feeling too difficult look at those goals and remember what you are working towards.
