Play the work of Childhood :
I came across this quote recently, which I found very profound
What reminded me of this quote was an incident this afternoon.
I had the opportunity today to pick up my wife and son, from the childcare centre where she works and he attends. It was only mid afternoon, so we took the opportunity to get out weekly shopping done early.
As we were shopping JJ, our son did not stop talking. About his day, telling us stories he made up or just pointing out the numbers at the end of each isle. JJ is not quite 4, but he will tell you about it.
On our way home from the shops (we only live 10 minutes from the shopping centre) and this happened:
My wife and I were discussing what we had on for the rest of the week, when we heard snoring from the back seat. Not even 5pm and JJ was sound asleep. Now JJ is not one of these kids who will wake up for dinner, nope when he crashes at this time of the day, thats it we don't hear from him again until morning.
Which is what reminded me about the quote
Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really. The work of childhood - Fred Rodgers
So what has this got to do with Wealthy Affiliates?
For most of us here, the affiliate websites we are developing are a secondary activity for us. We still have our day job. Some have multiple different jobs and projects on the go.
For a lot of us, Wealthy Affiliates and our websites are our play. We get enjoyment from learning about affiliate marketing, building our websites and just being part of this community.
This may not be our primary source of income (for many of us, it is not providing any income as yet), but it is a serious job.
Why is this important?
Like JJ, today (and believe me today is not an isolated case). It is very easy to play to hard and for to long without taking a rest. We work our day job and then once we have had dinner, put the kids to sleep, we sit down at the computer and starting working on our website,
Or reading the forums,
Or trying to find the right plugins to increase the site speed,
Or write more content for our site.
We need to remember to rest occasionally
If we don't take a break occasionally, before too long we will crash like JJ. Our body will take the option out of our hands and the next thing you will know is you've been sleeping on your keyboard for an hour.
How do you relax? What is your method of ensuring that you don't do too much? Leave a comment below.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day :)

And doesn't he know it. Thank you Angela for taking the time to read and comment. Have a wonderful day :)
True, it is so easy to get into the now of doing that we forget or overlook spending some time on ourselves.
Thank you for reading and commenting Susan. Have a wonderful day :)
Hello Brendan,
You are so correct, we like children need to take a break from the daily grind. Sometimes we forget to take that time for ourselves and then it happens, we crash.
Thanks for reminding us. JJ likes like a little angel.
Hi Camber, yes remembering to have some me time is always important.
And yes he is an angel, expect when he stands there hands on hips with a stern face going "No Daddy I don't Like It" :)
Hi Brendan, Excellent post and you are so correct. You described my actions here to a T. I also remember those days whne my children were that age. Enjoy that time with them., It goes by way too fast.
Wayne
Thank you Wayne. I have found that having a routine, particularly around what time I go to bed has helped me immensely.
Agree they do grow up way to fast :)

Beautiful write up. I play by swimming at least once a week, socialising with family and friends (at least once a month) and dancing every weekend.
What about you?
Hi Jona, thank you for reading and commenting on my post.
For me, my play is spending time with the family, watching my favourite sports (rugby and cricket) and spending time in the gym.
Have a wonderful day :)
