Benefits of Diversifying Your Social Media Presence
Businesses and individuals need to have a solid social media presence. Using only one social media platform can be risky, but it provides a way to connect with your target audience, increase brand awareness, and drive traffic to your website. That is why you should diversify your social media presence.
1. Allows You to Reach a Wider Audience: Expanding your presence across multiple social media platforms will increase your chances of connecting with different target market segments.
2. Helps Mitigate Risk: It is impossible to predict which social media platform will remain popular in the long run. If you are active on alternative social media platforms, you are not putting all your eggs in one basket.
3. Experiment with Different Content Formats: Instagram is great for visual storytelling, while Twitter is great for promoting real-time conversations. Other alternative social media provides different benefits and features for you to play around with to see if it helps grow your brand.
4. Gaining Insights from Diverse Communities: Engaging with these communities can provide valuable feedback and ideas to improve your marketing strategy. Different platforms attract different types of users.
5. Promotes Brand Consistency: Your brand messaging and visuals can remain consistent across multiple social media platforms, which allows you to adapt to different audiences' needs. Your audience will be more likely to recognize and trust your brand if it has a cohesive brand image across all channels.
6. Increases Website Traffic: It helps with SEO and increases conversions and sales if you have a diverse social media presence.
7. Opportunity for Cross-Promotion: As a result of being present on multiple social media platforms, you can cross-promote your content and engage with followers more effectively.
Utilizing a diverse social media presence is vital for businesses and individuals wanting to establish a solid online presence. Each social media platform has its audience demographics and features; therefore, understanding your target audience is critical in determining the most suitable alternative platforms to achieve your business objectives.
Final Thoughts: Embracing the Power of Diversified Social Media Presence
It is clear that alternative social media platforms significantly expand your reach and engage with new audiences if you diversify them. By embracing these platforms, you can tap into untapped markets, connect with niche communities, and build a more robust online presence. Alternative social media is not just an option; it's an essential component of any successful brand marketing campaign. Think about expanding your horizon to find a variety of communities you can tap into.

PS. I used Bard AI to help me write some of this, also some I found answers in Quora and going to their website directly. I reverted the content into my own words and changed the words to fit my personality.
PSS: Anyone tried using of these social media apps? Im just curious.

A very insightful read as always Brenda and appreciate the disclosure at the bottom (some things here are definitely not how you write)!!
You know me, I absolutely loathe SM, and don't use it at all but... the way things are currently going with Google I am pretty sure that I will bite the bullet soon just to survive!!
These seem like some interesting alternatives to the "big three" so I will investigate further!!
Much appreciated as always my friend and enjoy a wonderful weekend! :-)
Thanks, Nick. I can tell you that for 5 yearsI avoided using social media. Scorpion Rock Queen got me started with Pinterest so my focus is on three platforms for now. The other alternative looks interesting. You too have a great weekend.
You're most welcome my friend and the SRQ can have that influence with her knowledge!!
I don't believe that Pinterest is SM though, it's an alternative type of search engine from what I have researched...
A great platform nonetheless and one I will push myself to use in the not too distant future!!
Take care my friend! :-))
I know Pinterest is a search engine. Let’s call it “an image social media search engine platform.”I know there is a lot of dispute about it because it differs from other social media platforms. I pushed myself to do it because of its search engine capabilities. 👍🏻😀
"An image social media search engine platform"..
A bit of a mouthful but I love it Brenda!!
I too will push myself, enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend!
👍😀
Great, thank you! This is all new for me. I will look at it closely soon.
I can add what I like personally. It is Flipboard.
You made magazines more and less for your interest and add your link there.
It's not easygoing, but you can do good things there and have fun.
https://about.flipboard.com/
Excellent- thanks for the link, Johann. I appreciate it. I will look at Flipboard soon,
Sure, I am happy to write this post. Yes, it's all new for me too. I got curious when other people mentioned it in Quora and other places. Some of those mainstreamed social media can be a pain for some people because of being banned and all that for violation of their terms of service. That is why I am ultra careful to study the platform. I read their rules and terms of service first. Then I read what other people write and post so that I know I do not make a newbie goof and end up in trouble.
Yes, I think it is too very important to know which social media works for your niche.
For example, even though my main readers are 20-45 years old, Instagram doesn't work for my niche.
Too, as Discord is the only place I personally am of this names (sorry, forgot that I was there), I saw it quickly it was not for my niche.
I believe Reddit is for my niche but the community there is horrible so I need to think about it.
but it is clear that Google looks more than before to social media.
Yes, Google has elevated social media content because that is where helpful content is, even though this is short, helpful content written for humans. They all take up Google on page 1, so many people are complaining about Google's elevating these platforms. So we need to go where they hang out because Google isn't giving us bloggers the love. We have to get the love from "social media." then Google is happy, geez!
I use telegram for sharing high res photos between my daughter and myself .. apparently, in her words "facebook messenger brings the quality of them down"
Thanks for letting me know about Telegram. I just heard of it when I went to their website to check it out. I understand about Fakebook Messenger. I only use it when talking with some old college friends or my Mom.
My 83-year-old mother is addicted to Facebook. She loves it there. Well, it's understandable; she is lonely, and all her friends and her family are gone; she is the only one left. She outlived them all—we (Im the eldest of four siblings- 2 sisters and two brothers). She is entitled to enjoy her second childhood while she still has time on Earth. She is happy to be on Facebook (I call it Fakebook). She joins different activity groups that she likes.
Out of all of the ones I mentioned in this post, I would check out Thread and maybe BlueSky Social; I'm already on Discord but never really use it. I see no point; there is nothing there for me except a few AI businesses for AI art. I am sure there are many others out there.
Hi Brenda, this is a great roundup! I’ve not heard of many of these, but I’ll check them out.
FYI, I use telegram! It’s quite comfortable and seems robust as a global tool. I can’t get WhatsApp in Japan because I don’t have a phone, so telegram’s a good alternative.
Thanks for sharing this! It’s truly important for our internet business growth.
Blessings.
Yes, you are correct. I have not looked into either I found other people talking about it, so I decided to research this. I know it's a lot. It's virtually impossible to do it all but at least some platforms may be helpful to get a more diverse audience other than the mainstreamed social media platforms.
Hi Brenda,
I am familiar with Discord because my son creates video games on the platform. I also know the Lemon 8 app, but unfortunately, it is not valid in the Canary Islands. Instead, I have accounts on several Asian social networks that are valid where I live.
I noticed that many of us are so focused on well-known social platforms. But we forget there are also these lesser-known platforms that can bring substantial traffic.
Anyway, thanks for this list. I will check out the rest of the recommended platforms to see which one I can use to my advantage.
Have a great weekend ahead!
Diana.
Hi Diana, thanks for sharing about your son using Discord. Yes, that is why I wrote this; they needed to be looked at to get a more diverse type of audience to our website.
I've tried Mastodon (not good at it yet), Discord (used for MidJourney), and Tribel (you forgot this one) - a lot of Twitter (X) users tell people to join Tribel on their profile.
I only use social media for the most part, to post my blog articles. More for X and FB, which I don't like anymore, lol.
I have a Threads account, but haven't really used it.
I use these from my blog auto-post to FB and X social links. I can get hung up at X reading posts about dogs, cats, animals. I follow a lot of animal lovers :)
I see; thanks for sharing.
Right now, Im using Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Medium.
Reddit and Quora look into it now and then, but do not use that yet for my online business.
I also have a Linkedin acct, but it's old and for my equine new website.
I also have Medium and Quora, but don't use to post het.
I am saving this one too, Brenda so I can look into it more! Once again, very well done!
Jeff

Thanks for some options. I hated Twitter even before it became X. I never loved IG, and haven't used it in a long time. I think SM is possibly the silliest and most destructive thing humans have ever come up with. I use FB but mostly to look at cute cat stuff because I love cats. I strictly limit my use because it's so easy to get sucked in which is, of course, the purpose.
I used Discord for a bit for Midjourney. I found the interface confusing and just not worth the effort. Tribel looks interesting, and maybe useful if they let you post links.
Honestly, the best traffic source is Pinterest. Quora and Reddit would come in a close second. If you build a really good board on Pinterest on a topic or hobby of interest to many and add to it for years, guaranteed it will get attention.
Thanks for the informative post.
Hi Wendy, thanks for sharing your experiences. You are right some platforms are just not worth it. I dont like Fakebook. I stay away from it, my gosh all that psychosocial drama, ugh. Twitter nope. Yes, for Pinterest, LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, Redditt, and Sub-Reddits. Never tried Thread- it's still under Fakebook (Meta). Discord is a bit hard to understand, too.
