Now what? It's supposed to last a month. It's to get rid of spammy content, rewarding more for helpful content. So traffic in the SERPs is going to be volatile this month.

Will we stop seeing bunch of these ridiculous spammy content from spammy Reddit and stuff that we see that's on page 1 of Google?

One thing that I see is old outdated spammy content about WA that was written in 2019 on Reddit page 1 in Googlrpe WT#$& eh- what is it doing there, it's not helpful is someone complaining about WA’s 19 dollars that they spent. No longer relevant for WA today.

Google should remove that, there is no reason for it to be there, yeah I read somewhere that Big G made a deal with Reddit, about their data.

So now do we continue to write content and it's business as usual knowing many will get hit again some traffic will tank, others will go up. Maybe stop a month, focus on social media, because it will help with traffic, so they say. I haven't seen any evidence that Pinterest is helping at all for traffic to my sites

Read the helpful content and work hard on your content and social media while this month long update goes on for this month.

Be prepared for this. Best wishes to you all.

Thank you Brenda for the latest Google News and the fascinating conversations. I lost half of my traffic on my travel website and I was puzzled. Now I know why. Partha said that travel and recipes have been heavily impacted. I've been making short videos on Canva for my 'make money online' blog and enjoying myself - I've put a few on Facebook but I've actually made them for TikTok. It'll be interesting to see what happens or doesn't!

Best wishes to you too :)

Cheers, Alisa

It is very important to find out which social media works for you.

Pinterest is a key for my priority site. Pinterest is not social media, but one of my strongest to get traffic outside the site itself. I don´t have a chance on Facebook and Instagram.

Even so, I have been allowed to be in a strong group about writing content on Linkedin, but it is not so strong.

The other site I work in have done incredible on Facebook and I know that both Pinterest and probably Instagrem will be strong.

But no of them have a chance in Twitter and really I don´t care as I have never understood it.

So, as I say, you need to find out where your target group is and where your content works best, no matter if it is on Pinterest or social media.

ps. Thanks for the Poe site advice, after I start using it I am much faster and much more direct. Have helped a lot!

I did not write it correct, I was talking about niche, not a content.

For one of my site Facebook had been a game changer.
And I know both Pinterest and Instagram will help a lot.

We need a find a way for the sites and a complete agree with Partha and more gurus that we need to work more in all kind of platforms to support each post.
At the moment we are in the wild west!

Hi Brenda,
I'm following Parthas and Jays advice to get social backlinks, and just keep blogging and Pinteresting/Youtube-ing. We'll see, Google can't really tank me down even more, well they can, to zero LOL *cynical grin.
And my Africa travel site is now totally almost de-indexed, great ^^(it has unique content from my own travels, unique pictures and videos and stories, much more expanded than the competition, but Google just don't care, it sees: 'low DA, not much content on it (about a 100 posts now), nah, toss off')

I watched Julian Goldie this morning on Youtube, that was weird! He said that his website was totally crashed and deindexed, even his homepage. During the live session on Youtube it got restored. What the heck lol!
It seems though that obvious AI sites are getting smashed, which is a good thing though., in my opinion.
But it is just the beginning of the update, things can go up and down still. My miniature site is stable, even slightly going up again. I guess we will have to wait and see.
About Reddit, Google says that this isn't true, don't know who to believe anymore haha, interesting though all of this. This other guy talked about class actions waiting to happen towards google from websites with millions of viewers. Funny to look at twitter for the moment haha!

Hi Brenda

Thanks for the heads-up on the Google Core Update! 😎

I don't get too stressed out about things I cannot really control, but it's always good to keep abreast of all the changes, good and bad.

I agree with you that it's smart to have more than one traffic stream. The online marketing space is volatile by definition. I'm working with Pinterest and Medium, which are easy to automate with AI.

See you in class tonight. I missed the Monday webinar, celebrating my wife's birthday, but I watched the replay, which was great!

Rock On! 🤘

Hi Brenda

Yeah, traffic is tough to get if you don't have a popular niche on Pinterest. Although the potential audience size for Music is 8.5m-14.2m, it is lower for guitars.

With 227,000 Pinterest impressions a month, I'm only getting 515 outbound clicks, which is about 17 visits a day to my website.

Still, I'm having fun making the pins. Lol 😎

Lol

With the right niche, Brenda, you can drive quite a bit of free traffic to your website.

Things like fashion, kitchen, garden, outfit ideas, nails, hairstyles, etc., are very popular, but they're not for me.

I'm a guitar man! Haha

Hi Brenda

I'm more interested in using Pinterest and Medium as signals to Google to help increase my organic search engine traffic. It's not a big time investment for me, so I'll continue for now.

We're all in a different situation. I'm not interested in making online marketing a full-time business. I could make more money helping patients, but I'm winding down and enjoying life more at almost 70 years old. 😎

I do always all pins for next 5 days, could do more but have out Pinterest do not like more than that.
Publish 3 pins day day so it is 3 keyword this 5 days.
Finding keywords and made this 15 pins takes max 20 minutes.
So I take that happý.

All the best to you!
Like I said, media are different from each niche,
My game changer was that I realized that Pinterest is not a social media but a very powerful search engine.
I took a course from a woman who had big success in it, and she pointed that out.

But enough about Pinterest, good luck!

Hi Brenda,
I've reached my limit with trying to keep up with Google's SEO demands and I'm throwing in the towel. It feels like I'm just another product to them, constantly being told what to do. I've poured so much money into learning all about SEO, but in hindsight, it seems like a massive waste of time and resources. The only real winners here are the SEO experts (they said) making a fortune off of people like me.

Have a great day Brenda and thank you for the update.

That's not the right mentality. It's all in your mind, brother. You can be an SEO expert, too, but you need to put in the work.

What's stopping you from being an SEO expert?

I came to WA a few years ago, I'm not an SEO expert yet but I made it work, it takes real work and patience.

Unfortunately with this mentality you will go nowhere wether its SEO or something else.

I'm saying this to encourage you, please don't give up, be positive and keep working and you will figure it out too!

4

So Brenda makes mention of a Reddit post criticizing WA which I have read.
It didn't bother me because, of course, nothing is perfect. Or everything to all people.
What I DO whole heartedly believe about WA is that WA is genuinely striving in an ethical, well-organized, and helpful manner to help people develop online businesses. And to do so, WA provides lots of instructive training/classes, useful tools, and as you have just perfectly exemplified ...
a helpful and supportive community.

I find all of these aspects of WA most beneficial (especially as someone nearer the beginning of the journey :)

Though your comment was not directed at me, you put a smile on my face with your encouraging words. Thank you for that.

Now ... off to jury duty ... Go democracy! ... Ugh ...

I was a paid member in 2018 and during those time I switched to ecommerce the reason I cancelled my 2018 paid account.
I am not new to SEO and I exactly knew what you are talking about. Yes I am not a paid account yet but in 2018 I was and I have a 100% ideas about WA. Thank for your advice and I appreciate it. Yes social media and email marketing is the one to go to right now and I think Google will meet their competitors sooner or later. I am one of the Baby Boomers and I think I have seen it all (maybe) :).

Have a good day my friend:)
