Freezing Rain, Ice, Gorge Winds, Snow Blew PowerOutage in Gresham, Oregon
Hi, our electric transformer and trees fell on our block also on the other side of the train tracks power out went at 7:45pm.
We are without power in our assisted living facility. We have staff checking on us residents every 15 minutes.
Last Tuesday and Yesterday water main pipe upstairs on fourth floor burst caused flooding and ice blew a hole in the roof. Everything that ever could possibly happened-did occur.
My window is full of ice all over the place. No power. No Internet. Im using my mobile phone only on one bar with Xfinity Comcast.
The Staff here knows I am am an experienced hard core northener survivor. I am well prepared just like last Saturday. Its been a rough week for many people in Portland-Vancouver. WA.
Staff shortage plus we still on covid 19 lock down 15 more cases. Those who are sick have no power in their rooms. Emergency personnel on are standby. We might have to be moved if power is not restore, thats total of 89 residents. elevators don't work. They do not know how long before power is back on.
Generators running inside building but with me using a heavy duty chair will not be able to go anywhere. Staff said the fire dept is prepared to help our residents be moved and another assisted living next to ours on the same block. The whole block is dark no lights.
This is an erring bizarre week. I’ve seen much worse so I will hang in there and go with the flow.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather and outages. Having lived in North Dakota, you are an experienced with dealing with cold temperatures and adverse weather conditions.Hope things will be better soon.

Thats been some storm action you've deslt with, Brenda!
Snowed here on Wed, still here today, although it warmed up enough to rain, low trmps could make things very icy.
Stay warm, stay safe, and hopefully your power returns sooner rathher than later.
In January 1993, a storm hit so hard, evergreen trees fell over around our neighborhood that we were out of power for 10 days.
Somehow, the crews missed our transformer as they worked to restore electricity.
Fortunately, we had plenty of wood for the fireplace, and I kept the household warm.
The image enclosed is from my living room window facing east, approx 40 min after the snow began to fall.

Just over the mountains from you in Boise Idaho. All week has been snow days. Cold here too. The thermostat went out and when the guy came to fix it the temperature was 48 degrees…… brrrrr. Luckily we still have power.
Stay warm and I hope they get everything all fixed. Kay

To say you are a trouper, Brenda is just about the understatement of the decade. However, I do get what you mean. My house and a whole village were flooded to the second floor in 1987. Many people left their homes, they had to swim for it and camped in the local hotel. I stayed where I was for three weeks, we couldn't get out of the village there was only one road out and that was under water for three weeks. Of course, we lost power for weeks and we had no food as the shop couldn't be restocked. Eventually, the army sent a helicopter into a hotel whose car park was on higher ground with candles, water, and basic food. Fun times but I was a lot younger then I couldn't do it now,
Well I live in a place that has frequent power cuts but my only hardship is no internet I don't have to deal with extremes of cold
