SEO Basics: What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving the ranking of a website on search engines. The higher the order, the more likely people find the website.

There are two main types of SEO: On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO.

On-Page SEO deals with optimizing the content and structure of a website to make it more search-engine friendly.

Off-Page SEO deals with promoting a website through link-building and social media.

The most crucial factor in ranking a website is the quality of its content.

Besides content quality, other factors that influence rank include the number and quality of backlinks, the age of the domain, and the keywords.

SEO is essential for new bloggers wanting to increase their readership. By learning more about SEO and implementing basic techniques, you can help your blog get a better chance of being found by potential readers if they lean on simple basic SEO.

Learn Simple Basic SEO

If you're new to blogging, search engine optimization (SEO) can initially seem scary. You only need to learn simple basic SEO to get started.

Your blog posts should appear in search results as high as possible when people search for topics relevant to your blog posts.

SEO is all about helping search engines find and rank your posts. By doing so, you will get more traffic to your site, which leads to more followers and readers.

There are four key things you can do to make sure your blog posts are optimized for search engines:

1. Use 1-3 focus keywords throughout your post. Keywords are the words and phrases that people are searching for. Using these keywords helps your post get the search engines to find and index your content.

2. Make sure your blog title and descriptions are clear and concise. You must ensure your identification accurately reflect your post's content and include relevant keywords in search results.

3. Structure your posts with headings and subheadings. Organizing your content into easy-to-read sections makes people more likely to read through the whole thing. Plus, search engines will have a better understanding of what your post is about.

4. Use images, videos, infographics (their usage is much less now), charts, statistics, screenshots, and other important visuals.

The 5 Key Elements of SEO

SEO is essential for any blogger who wants to improve their blog’s visibility and attract more readers. There are a few critical elements of SEO that every new blogger should master to be successful.

1. Keywords: Using relevant keywords is one of the most important aspects of SEO. Keywords allow search engines to index your content and make it easier for readers to find it.

2. Title tags and meta descriptions: These HTML elements appear in search engine results pages (SERPs) when someone searches for a particular term. A title tag should be concise and descriptive, while a meta description should briefly summarize the content.

3. Alt text: Your blog's SEO can be improved by adding alt text to images, which tells search engines what the image is about.

4. Link building: Your blog is more likely to rank higher in the SERPs when links from other websites point to it. Linking to other high-quality websites can also improve ranking.

5. Sitemaps: Sitemaps are XML files that list all your website pages, making it easier for search engines to index your content.

If you learn how to implement SEO techniques in your blog, you should see some results soon if you know how to optimize your blog and improve its visibility.

How to Implement SEO on Your Blog

When you're a new blogger, you probably know what SEO is but need to learn how to use SEO to optimize your blog post for Google's search engine. To become a successful SEO blogger, you must master five SEO skills and follow them after writing your article.

Research Keywords Use Jaaxy, Google AdWords Keyword Planner, Or Moz's Keyword Explorer to search for keywords relevant to your niche before implementing SEO on your blog. The keywords you find should be listed and incorporated into your content once you have found them.

Optimize Your Content. it's time to optimize your content for Google's search engine. Your headlines should be catchy and include relevant keywords, using keyword-rich descriptions and tags and formatting your posts to make them easy to read and digest.

Optimize your images. Whenever you upload a photo onto your blog, include relevant keywords in the file name and fill out the alternate text field with a brief but keyword-rich description.

Optimize Your Whole Site for SEO. You'll also want to ensure your website is optimized for SEO. This includes creating an XML sitemap and appropriately using header tags (H1, H2). Write compelling meta descriptions: Make sure it's clear, concise, and contains the relevant keywords.

Always promote your content. As I stated yesterday in my other two blog posts, getting your brand name out is essential to promote your blog posts on social media, in forums, and through email marketing. You can get involved in the comment section of other blogs to start building relationships with other bloggers in your niche.

One or two external links to the outside authority side and one internal link to related posts: By doing external and internal linking to other related posts on your blog, you can help search engines better understand the topic of your seat and improve its ranking. Besides, it should keep your readers engaged on your site longer.

Measuring the Success of Your SEO Efforts: Pros and Cons

Search engine ranking is the most direct way to measure the success of your SEO efforts. If your pages rank high in the search engines for the keywords you're targeting, you're likely getting a good amount of traffic from those keywords.

Search engine rankings can be unreliable and depend on factors beyond your control, so they should be interpreted cautiously.

There are several ways to measure your SEO efforts' success, each with pros and cons.

Photos: Google Search Console Metrics example

The Pros: On-page SEO metrics include keyword density, metadata, and alt text. On-page SEO metrics can give you a good idea of how well your pages are optimized for specific keywords and how search engine spiders are crawling your site. On-page SEO metrics include keyword density, metadata, and alt text.

The Cons: On-page rankings can be unstable and fluctuate for various reasons; they may only sometimes be directly correlated with actual traffic levels or conversions.

The Pros: Off-page SEO metrics include links' popularity and anchor text. Off-page SEO metrics can give you a good idea of your site's popularity with other websites and how well your links work. This happens outside of your website. Search engines will assume you have great content if you get a more valuable link related to your pages.

The Cons: Off Page SEO metrics; it can be time-consuming to work hard on building backlinks, creating high-quality content, and focusing on promoting your site through social media. The metrics are difficult to measure and track, and sometimes there is a penalty if you use black hat techniques against Google's guidelines.

Tracking Your Conversions to Sales: this is the most critical metric for many website owners, as it directly reflects revenue generation.

The Pros: Tracking Your Conversions Your data on conversion is highly relevant and can indicate whether your SEO efforts are paying off financially.

The Cons: Tracking Your Conversions- the data for conversions can be challenging to obtain and track; it may also be influenced by factors unrelated to SEO, changes in your product offerings, and pricing.

All these metrics measure your site's unique visitors, page views, and bounce rate. Traffic data can give you a good idea of how much overall traffic your site gets and where it's coming from.

If things are tricky and you can't get anywhere, seeking feedback from other SEO experts would be essential.

Seek Feedback from Other SEO Experts

Members here at WA who are SEO experts, Jay, our trainer, also offers training that is accessible for Premium and Premium Plus members.

It is worth getting feedback from other SEO experts to learn what works and what doesn't. There are several ways to find such experts, including forums, online courses, and blog comment sections.

Once you've found someone whose opinion you trust, take the time to ask for feedback on your blog and listen carefully to what they have to say.

Final Thoughts

New bloggers must understand the relevance of SEO, as it can help your blog stand out and draw in more readers. Keywords, website optimization for search engines, and rich content are all essential components of successful SEO strategies. By centering on these areas, you'll increase your chances of a higher rank in search results and bring more people to your site.

Did you have ChatGPT make you some ideas for what we talked about earlier?

I will work on that idea later today and let you know in PM what the robot said to me 🙃🥁🤣

Text me when you’re done! So I know when to chat. I am off for 2 days, so hopefully we can iron this out!
