This Is What It's All About
Something shocking happened to me today.
A little background first
My brother is 28. He is a recovering alcoholic. A few years ago he started trying to get his life straight. Then less then a year ago a friend asked for a ride so he could pay a debt to someone. It turns out the friend was selling drugs, they got pulled over and the friend is looking at prison time now. My brother is in jail waiting for a court date. I know this sounds bad, but my brother was living with me and my family and I know him well enough to know when he is messing up and when he is straight. He was straight when all this went down.
Moving on
Today I went to visit my brother. I told him how I have been doing with my business and the progress my daughter is trying to make with her blog. Naturally he was a little confused. We only get 30 min to talk so I have not been able to tell him a lot of details. Today he started asking questions. He wanted to know how I make money, how much all this costs me and what exactly I do. I gave him as much detail as I could in 30 min.
For the first time in months his eyes lit up. He said, "I have a notebook and I have been trying to find something to fill it with. This is perfect."
I told him to come up with some website ideas and when I see him next time we will go over what he has and I'll give him some ideas for what to do next.
I am not going to make any money this way and I don't care. My brother has something to look forward to while sitting and staring at four white walls all day long. He has goals and a little something to help keep his head up.
My brother is smart, creative, and very talented. This is something he can do and would love doing. When he gets out I will have him sign up for the free membership. Then when he makes enough money from his "day job" he can decide if he wants to go premium or not.
Money? No money? I don't care. That is what this is all about, helping someone with or without a profit from it. And when I saw his face lite up with a new purpose, that was all the payment I needed.

Thank you. I think he will this time. He is planning on college, a job, and building a website (probably to help those who have gone through what he has).
Thank you Valerie. This is a hard lesson for him to learn, but it is something he needs. If being in jail is what it takes to keep him sober then I thank God for it. At the same time WA is something he would love to do and it might help him stay on the right track. So I do feel blessed in many ways.
