Scams and Dodgy Emails

Hi Everybody,

Yesterday a member who is pretty high up in the W/A rankings wrote a blog about a Spam alert on Paypal, to which I wrote a response. So I thought, how many others fall foul of these type of tricks.

Most Spam, thankfully goes straight into your Spam folder, at least it does if you are using Google or Google Chrome, as I do.

But sometimes it comes straight into your inbox and tells you something has just happened that makes you uncomfortable. This could be "Your Paypal Account is Now Closed" or "Your Nat west Account Has Been Terminated" Or Your Barclay's Account has Been Suspended" or the Classic A Dead Relative Has Left You a Massive Sum and We need To Find You".

OK lets be real here, all of these are most definitely scams and should just be deleted. If there was a Problem with any of these in real life, you could find this out by contacting the companies direct through your own online accounts or on the phone.

The Dead Relative one is a bit harder, but basically is you had a long lost relative and they had left you £1 Billion then they most probably would put the amount in an email.

There are loads of other scams out there and the people behind them are not usually who you would imagine them to be, like the classic honey trap scam that sends you a love request, hoping that you may be lonely and vulnerable. These people are usually big butch Caribbean type men who sit behind a screen sending out these emails and looking for your hard earned and not the gorgeous type women that you may see an image off.

The Moral of the story here is.

"If it seems to good to be true or seems too wrong to be true or if it makes you worried or in any way uncomfortable", Delete it and forget it and have a great life.

Have a great Valentines Day.

Paul

Good job!

Great blog Paul can't be reminded enough, those scam emails looks so genuine, complete with logo of the companies. Great advise, to contact your official bankings only by using a direct link or communication!
