Is Paid Traffic Any Good Or Is It A Scam

Many people will tell you that all paid traffic as scams or bots.

Facebook ads are paid traffic, PPC ads are paid traffic, ads on Google, Bing and Yahoo are paid traffic is that a scam? There are a few good places for paid traffic and a ton of ripoff traffic sources

Kyle has training here on Wealthy Affiliate about PPC campaigns and how to use them where Kyle says in the training "we are dealing with “paid” advertising."

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/bing-yahoo-the-power-of-ppc-phase-6/setting-up-your-first-ppc-campaign

What he teaches works. The rest is buyer beware.

I have been using paid traffic for years and it has made me a lot of money. But paid traffic is a mine pit. You have to be very careful where you buy traffic.

Would I recommend paid traffic if you are just getting going? Absolutely Not!

If you do not have a clear way to make money from the traffic or are wanting to get subscribers to a list then you are wasting your money with few exceptions.

A couple of exceptions are:

If you want to build your traffic up to be able to get approved for an affiliate program then inexpensive traffic might help.

If you want to get sign ups to a newsletter or subscribers to your blog.

There are very few other reasons you might have paid traffic other than to make money but not many.

This is one of my sites where I use paid traffic. You can tell by the stats when I ran a lot of campaigns and when I didn't.

Mainly the goal of paid traffic is to always get more money back from sales then what you paid for the traffic. If you paid $10 for an ad you have to get more then that back in profit from sales for it to be worthwhile.

If you handed me a $10 bill and I handed $15 back to you how long would you keep handing me $10 bills?

You make a profit off your ads it is a good thing. You do not and you sink the ship.

You run a paid traffic campaign and it does not make money don’t run that campaign again

I run paid traffic campaigns every day. I have them running today. Do they work? Yes look at the stats.

If you don't do it right flush your money down the toilet it will do the same thing.

Paid traffic can be good but most of it is junk. Comscore a digital analytics provider says that 36% of online traffic is suspicious or non-human.

You need a map or at least someone to guide you through pitfalls like Kyle’s training here does. Otherwise you will set new records on going broke on the Internet with paid traffic. It can be a minefield if you do not know what you are doing.

Here are some of the ways that you can spot bad traffic.

  1. If they tell you that you can only track the traffic through a link they send you because Google Analytics won’t track it. It is not good traffic do not buy it.
  2. If you can get 100,000 visits for a few dollars run the other way.

If they do not tell you that it is Adsense safe or Amazon affiliate safe do not buy it even if you are not using either of those two. Yes you can lose your AdSense account or your Amazon account if you run bad traffic through your site. It happens every day.

So does paid traffic work. .

If you want to use paid traffic find someone to guide you through the minefield and take the training on paid traffic that is in the Affiliate Bootcamp.

If you are just starting out is important to learn how to use Google and social media to drive traffic to your site. It can be done. It takes more work.

So there is my two cents on paid traffic.

Thank you for the lesson

Hope it helps.

There are many ways to throw away money, but a limited number of ways to make money. But paid traffic must be working otherwise it would not still exist.

I have enough ways I through away money without doing it on advertising.

Yes large corporations spend millions every year for paid traffic.

It sounds a lot like a novice entering the stock market! If you do not understand what to look for then don't do it. Thanks again, Bo

That is a good example that fits. Entering the stock market without know what you are doing.

A 3rd exception for paid traffic might be - as much as I use to resist this notion - is to gain massive likes and followers in a short period of time on social media to increase brand perception.

For in today's world, brand perception is a long-term financial plan; building followers may not bring you $$ now but can influence others to buy into your brand in the future. So the real money may be 6-12+ months away.

I know a co-author who currently built up his fan likes/ followers with targeted daily Facebook ads from 1,000 to 15,000+ and counting in only 4 weeks. Over the next 4-5 months, he wants to build them up to 100,000 so he can promote his book on major TV talk shows and people will take his book seriously. He believes this brand perception will translate to big sales of his book.

You are exactly right and that is the one of the reasons to use it that works. Thanks for adding that here. Good info.

Definitely NOT! But, when I'm really, really, ready too, I will, but not yet! No way! Unless, I have a kick butt site that's doing well, and that I'm benefitting from, than yes, of course!

Between your training and the Wealthy Affiliate training, it's a probability!

Thanks for all your tips and tricks!

Building a website to be proud of!

Becky :)

Waiting to see the website you are building to be proud of. I know I will say WOW! when I first see it

I hope so! I have around five pages of written content so far! But we'll see! I write that so that it will become a part of my ambitious drive. I spoke to my sister last night about Wealthy Affiliate, get this, she says I'll see how you do first. If my memory serves me right, you did a similar post question referring to her answer. Pressures on, lol! Becky :)

Bo - Sage advice. I'm just starting out, so paid traffic is off my radar screen for now. I'll be sure to take Kyle's training before venturing out. Thanks for sharing.

That is the way to do it.

Yes be sure of specifics before taking a plunge!

Yes or the water might not be very deep and it breaks you.

Wow, that's more than two cents worth of information.
You sure know your stuff...thanks for posting :)

Hey Patsy I was trying to give you your monies worth

Rich information doesn't have to cost anything so I owe you two cents :)

This is a lot of great information Bo, thanks for sharing your personal experience with paid traffic and for explaining the good and bad things about it.

You are welcome Tomas
