How To Evaluate Your Website Using AI

I’ve spent more late nights staring at Google Search Console than I care to admit. Those red flags for crawl errors, broken links, and “page with redirect” notices always turn a quiet evening into a full-blown detective story.
Lately I’ve started tossing the same problems at AI Chatbots—Grok, Gemini, ChatGPT, the whole crew—to see how much heavy lifting they can actually do. The short answer is: they can help a lot with the detective work.
However, they’re not a replacement for the official crime scene investigators at Google. Using tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics, is still a safe way to analyze what is really going on with your website.
HOW I USE AI TO EVALUATE MY GSC ERRORS
Here’s what I’ve learned from putting these AI tools through their paces. Give your favorite AI Chatbot a page URL, a chunk of HTML, a sitemap, or even a screenshot of your navigation menu, and it will happily dig into it for you.

It can spot obvious broken links if you feed it the list or let it examine the code. It will call out missing alt text, heading hierarchy, thin content, duplicate titles, and clunky navigation paths that make users click in circles.

Ask it to review your footer or mobile layout description and it’ll flag accessibility gaps or buttons that look like they’ll be impossible to tap with a thumb. It can even write meta tags and suggest clearer internal linking structures.
If the problem is visible in the content or code you give it, AI is pretty good at playing the role of a sharp-eyed second pair of eyes, complete with the occasional sarcastic comment about your 2019-era dropdown menu.
That’s the fun part. The limitations show up the moment you expect the AI to behave like Google Search Console itself. However, GSC sees your entire website the way Google’s crawlers actually see it, from the inside out.
GOOGLE TOOLS LEAD THE INVESTIGATION & AI FOLLOWS UP
Google knows which pages are indexed, which are blocked by robots.txt, which ones return soft 404s, and how your Core Web Vitals are performing in the real world across thousands of visits. AI looks at it in a User Experience lens.
GSC also tracks mobile usability issues that only appear on specific devices, security problems, manual actions, and the exact search queries that bring people to your pages. So an AI Chatbot has none of that privileged access.

A Chatbot can’t log into your GSC account, it can’t crawl your entire site the way Googlebot does, and it has no live data on how Google is treating your pages right now. That means AI won’t know unless you feed it the evidence.
I’ve also noticed that AI can get a little overconfident. It will cheerfully declare a navigation structure “user-friendly” based on the text you pasted, without ever clicking through the live site or watching a real user struggle on a phone.
So my current workflow looks like this: I let GSC tell me what’s broken or underperforming, then I hand the specific pages or error reports to an AI Chatbot for diagnosis and suggested fixes. The combination works surprisingly well.
GSC is the official scorekeeper; the AI is the fast-talking consultant who helps me figure out how to raise the score without losing my mind. Neither one is magic on its own, but together they’ve turned panic into productivity.
I'm not saying you should abandon Google Search Console for a total AI evaluation of your website. I'm saying that AI can help with a solution to the errors found by GSC without you losing any sleep. Have you ever tried this?
