Back In the Saddle Again!

Well, I have decided to come back to spend some time here in the community again. I never actually left WA, just stopped spending time here and was trying to focus on my website some more. But, something just wasn't quite right there either. My brain just couldn't seem to get into it. I know why and will get into that in a bit...

First...

When my daughter started virtual school last year my wife and I were doing everything we could to make sure Robin, my daughter was keeping up. The public school system here in our local community was only doing virtual school at the end of the school year and then started the new school year the same way.

Eventually, they did the hybrid thing where the students went to school on two days and did virtual two days. Then finally they went to full-time face-to-face in school again after the Christmas holidays. She struggled and it took a lot of our time to keep her focused and continuing to achieve some learning. Not a good situation.

It pulled me away from getting anything accomplished on my website and even eliminated me from spending hardly any time here in the community.

Second...

I was losing interest in my website altogether... I also started seeing some people that were here when I began my journey, leaving the platform. Vickie was one of them. She always had great advice to give me.

I rekindled a little interest again when she offered her website up for anyone here in the community. I decided to take her up on it and there was quite a bit of work getting my links into it and there is still quite a bit more for me to do there. I will work on that gradually.

I then started to see a different path for my MMO/WA promotion website. Some of you here have mentioned in some posts or responses to others that hyphenated domain names were not a good idea. I started to see their point. I agree and need to change that so, I will be starting over or transferring my posts to my new domain name... once I come up with one... LOL!

Now What?

I have also started to spend more time here in the community and see a path to success. I have been doing a lot of soul-searching as of late and see a better way forward. I have been here almost three years and my hyphenated domain name needs to go. It's going to be like starting over, but feel it is necessary. I have held onto it too long and it's time to get rid of it.

Unfortunately, I cannot use the same words in it without the hyphens. That domain is already taken and isn't even being used, but I refuse to pay what is being asked to buy it.

I hesitate to say it, but I feel like I have been doing things against the better judgment of others' advice and was too hard-headed to budge from how I did things.

So, I am now listening and trying to come up with a new domain name. I have a couple of ideas, one of which includes my brand name. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would be interested in hearing from you.

I do hope I didn't bore anyone with my story here, but it has also been almost a year since I blogged, and just want to let anyone with similar struggles or find themselves at a loss for similar reasons... there is hope and do not give up. I refuse to do that... I am in this for the long haul and WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!

Thanks for reading and please mash the "LIKE" button and your thoughts would be appreciated.

I wish you all the best!

Bob

Update: I decided on a name and will not publish it here, however, once I get it up and running, indexed, and populated with articles I will add it to my profile and drop the hyphenated website. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Y'all were awesome!!

Glad to see you're back, Bob -- I really miss some of you old-timers when you leave.

I think we all go through times of questioning. I almost quit at one point, and then decided I was trying to focus on too many things. Therefore, I dropped my MMO site and continued with my cat site. I also have three other websites, but have decided to go all-out for the one. I think it's helped.

It is so easy to stretch ourselves too thin. We have to plan carefully so we don't do that. There are so many things to do just to get one website running properly...I just couldn't keep up with all of it.

Good luck to you. Hope you find a way forward. I'm sure you will, if you just keep on keepin' on.

I definitely plan to find a better way forward with my website. I just wish I hadn’t wasted the time on the hyphenated domain name.

It okay though. I’ll see my way out of my mess.

I had similar issues to you Bob. I solved mine by changing my theme to a bootstrap one and not looked back since.

Glad you are back in the groove

Thanks for your input. What is Bootstrap theme? I’m curious...

Bootstrap means you can build and design any WordPress website you want. It's free of the restrictions that come with both free and paid themes.

That sounds interesting. I would be curious on researching this myself.

Welcome back, Bob.
Great positive mental attitude.

To success.

Paul from Canada.

Thanks Paul! I plan to be a little more active now.

Cheers.
Paul.

Good luck Bob. The last year has certainly brought a lot of challenges, especially in the field of education.
Hope the new site works well
Dave

Thanks Dave... me too.

Hi Bob,
Great to have you back!
What is your niche? Do you have a niche and a WA MMO website?
You mentioned a brand. What is it? It might help to find a good domain name if I knew these things.

Best regards,
Barbara
