Temporarily Frustrated

So, a temporary period of frustration has set in due to a Domain name transfer issue. In short, it shows "ready" under hosting, but "transfer in progress" under transfer domain. If someone can make sense of this without their brain exploding, please let me know.

Why the frustration over something seemingly unimportant?

Glad you asked. I already had my website launched with Shopify. I closed it down and went through the transfer process to WA. That domain name has absolutely everything I created linked to it. A ton of time and effort. I should mention that this domain name is the name of my business .net.

Now, though I am rebuilding my website from scratch it is coming along quite quickly which is good. The problem is that when a potential customer goes to that domain from all my social media pages they get a "Sorry, the website can't be found" messege instead of me being able to at least set up an "Under Construction/Maintenance" page with an e-mail capture.

Can I still progress?

Of course I can and I will. My woocommerce storefront is still not completed, but should be within the next 2-3 days pending any major distractions or being called to go back to work.

I am currently in the process of finalizing the arrangement of my site at which point I will just have to finish plugging in all my products and variations of said products along with prices, descriptions, etc.

Thereafter it will be time to start pumping out articles and creating more product images. The road is still long, but I want my fricken domain!

Hi, Brandon said it does take a few processes to get it transferred to WA, and I agree.
It took mine about 5 days because of my host, then checked DNS, and now all here.
I understand the frustration but it will be worth it to have it done right for you.

Being done right is also something I inquired about with support. I followed all the steps and now here I am thinking I did something wrong. All I am getting from support is that I need to sit on my hands and wait a few more days. To me this is unsatisfactory.

Waiting is a hard one for me also, but knowing all the years I had to deal with IT it's a normal process. Iam use to quick like now, but even getting traffic is not instantly either.

Building sources of traffic is a non-issue for me. The process of it anyway. I have had a good amount of traffic through my social media accounts and minimal paid advertising which will be my main source of traffic prior to getting organic traffic.

Truthfully I think this domain transfer is likely the only thing that will cause me frustration as I rebuild my site due to the fact that it is a brand domain. I will give it a couple more days like support suggested before my frustration turns into fury.

So Brandon, was your domain one you purchased at shopify? And your moving it to where? WA?

The domain moving process requires some verifications usually through email and links that must be clicked.

You will get a notification that the domain is being transferred.
Next you get an email from the old registrar that asks for your approval to move it.

Lastly just because it got moved does not mean the DNS settings are pointing to your new site.

It's a lot of steps for what is seemingly a simple thing.

Yes, purchased through Shopify. Recieved an e-mail from shopify stating my domain had been unlocked and ready to transfer. I got my transfer code. Initiated the transfer using this code on WA and had to pay for the domain. Transfer is "still" in progress.

I've been told by support to give it a few more days after which I will deal with it accordingly.

Yes, transfers usually take a few days. Let me know how it works out for you.

If I can help in any way just let me know.

My domain transfer is complete. It took like 6 business days if I remember correctly.
