My Hand Crafted Beaded Jewelry Vent

It's weird how it seems my love for making handcrafted beaded jewelry is being rekindled by the comments or chats from others in my circle lately. For instance, I may wear a key bracelet that I made years ago, for the convenience of keeping up with my key. Eventually someone may say, how lovely the bracelet looks.

When they give those type of comments, it usually leads me into a brief chat concerning that handcrafted peice of jewelry.

Oh Well..

Sometimes, I wonder why I simply can't just say " Thanks" without going into a heated explanation. It gets me. Why am I compelled to "motor mouth" about my jewelry making, lol. I notice the more, they ask about it, the more I'm inclined to want to chat about it.

Also, there have been a few occassions, where my ex-jewelry buddies will question my reason for not doing jewelry anymore. They tend to not understand why I ever would have wanted to stop. Oh well... guess it's a great time for venting, reflecting and understanding true personal motives.

Passionate or Not

I wouldn't mind if I felt more passionate about making beaded jewelry again. Realistically, I know I don't have the same drive, excitement and hunger as before. It's more like I'm starting (over) out of curiousoity; To see where it leads, since a few have asked about it.

But, being passionate should be more than, people showing an interest in what I do. It helps to have drive and lots of passion as well. With that thought lingering, I do believe, if my passion for jewelry is in anyway suprressed or non existence; I do believe it will eventually resurface if it's genuine.

Competition Thoughts

I am glad I fully understood the power of appealing to a niche audience who actually love the same things as I do. I think, this knowledge and understanding was responsible for the success experience in the past when crafting and showcasing my jewelry to my others.

Thanks, to WA which has helped me to understand a competitive or satuarated market means less when able to execute the power of nichiing the market. This helps to gain a fair stance against all of the competitors out there.
.

The Why's Gave Strength

How was I able to compete with the skillful and great competition? Because of my "Why" for making the jewelry. I once blogged how your why's will give you "Strength and Courage" ...

In the past, my specific reasons "why" kept me passionately moving, when the going was too tough. The reason then, for creating beaded peices was to make it easier on disabled, handicap and elderly women. I called it my pop on/ pop off jewlery. But my heart was into making life easier for the women who struggled with clasps.

Walking Away

I think I initially, walked away from creating cool beaded jewelry because the industry had changed a lot. I started to notice, the industry appeared to be somewhat drastically shakened. Maybe I was wrong, but that's was per my observations.

It seemed more and more, people were begginning to prioritized their wants and needs more strategically. Therefore, I notice a decline in my passion and drive to stay adrift. Pretty much why I decided to walk away... Back then. Ofcourse, now I'm thinking of walking back... Just because... Researching is on the agenda though.... Until then "Hobby City" here I come.

Encouraging Words

So, I will close here, and allow one of my mom's favorite cliches to haunt my spirit... "Where there's a will; There's a Way"... So I will once again, get off to creating more beaded jewelry pieces.

As I did before, I will just start off doing this as a relaxing hobby to showcase, enjoy and simply wear it myself. From that point, I will just go with the flow.

With the pandemic and everything going "hay wire" around us... I figure, it will definitely be a "win/win" because "Beading" has such a calming and relaxing effect on me. Lord knows, we all can use relaxing meaures right about now.

So, let's see where the unpredictable road leads me this time around... Just blogging and venting. If you are reading this, thanks and all the best to your success, my friend.

(PS./ Warning... If anything sounds conflicting or crazy, writing this in the wee hours of the morn...Sorry)

Are you a maker of any jewelry? Beaded Jewelry? Have you Did That; Done That?... Is it your hobby? What Benefits You Gain? What are your thoughts or tips? Would love to hear them!

I used to love designing and creating crochet pieces Beverly, it was my business for a few years until it gradually morphed into art work. I stiil do that have that business and enjoy it.
It's not the passion it was though, now WA is my passion, especially my websites and blogging.

Linda, I can imagine your crochet creations were beautiful regardless. It's good you are in love with WA, with all the value given here, I can see becoming passionate about it. What a great passion. I'm giving you a "follow"... Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for following back Beverly, much appreciated.

I used to love making beaded jewellery. But I never had the desire to get it out there and sell it, so it was more about the process and creating something beautiful.
Mind you, I was making it a few years ago, and long before I found WA. Perhaps if the two worlds had collided I would have made a site about beaded jewellery and sold my own creations through it. Who knows.
I’m glad you’re giving it another go. Wishing you all the best Beverly with your new creations 😊
Cheers

Hi Melissa, that's awesome. From the start, I too wanted to just make the jewelry more as a hobby. For me, it was also rather a stress blocker and something relaxing to do. I enjoyed watching the final results of each piece. Then certain places I would we go, some people started noticing and asking me about it and did I sell it. When I heard the word "sell" a light bulb appeared, lol. I thought why not... And that I did. Hmm, it was a rather challenging/interesting journey. That I confess. Thanks Melissa, for your feedback. All the best to you.

Very awesome that you are considering reentering your passion, Beverly! I wish you the best success in that endeavor should you again pursue it!

Hi there, Thanks Jeffrey!

Hello, Beverly, and you are very welcome, my friend!

Jeff

I used to make jewelry all the time! I gave it up cause I was spending too much in supplies and my hands were starting to have a hard time!

Hi Brianna, I'm curious to know what type of jewelry you used to make. Because I really love the kind that you add the clasps and closures too, but I fell in love with simplicity, lol. You know the beads with the big holes that you string on those stretchy cords. My fave for the necklaces... But the earrings did take a bit of hand work for me. It was kind of fun examining the finishing though. Appreciate yr feedback. All the best!

I did as many types as I could! I beaded, I wired, I was about to go into resin and acrylic glass when my hands stopped cooperating! I loved it all!

Brianna, I would have loved to have seen your jewelry. So sorry your hands stopped cooperating. Seems you did a great variety. Now, that's one thing I actually enjoyed, before this Corona stuff hit... And that was going to those craft events admiring the art work from the many artists (Even long after I'd stopped) Beauty runs deep... Always awesome to view
