What I have learned about Online Business in my first month at WA
I have been here at Wealthy Affiliate for about a month and a half now. In this time, I have learned a great deal about SEO, keywords, Google indexing and ranking, and how to develop great content for a website.
In addition to learning more about building up a website ( I already had two years of web development and design experience from college ), I learned a great deal about starting up a successful affiliate marketing business online. I've learned a great deal about networking, meeting the right people, and to take advantage of business cards as they can aid in growing your business offline.
I have met so many helpful people on Wealthy Affiliate who have all taught me one thing or another. Initially I thought I would join this community and focus only on growing my website, meeting the right people, and making money However, I have made some really great friendships, and in that, have been able to further develop and grow my website.
There's an important thing that we all must keep in mind: Everyone can teach you SOMETHING. Whether you care about the topic or not, everyone is a teacher in their own way. They have knowledge that they can offer you. They have people they know. If you are good to people, take an interest in them, and invest in everyone as just another living being, they can help YOU too.
A successful business depends on relationships, trust, and service. When I worked at KFC, I learned a very important concept called "Kernaling". In this idea, Colonel Sanders himself preaches "Service BEFORE the Sale." Before he invested in this business we know today as KFC, he worked somewhere else, I believe a convenience store/gas station? People didn't always buy something. He did a lot of window washing and offering to pump their gas for them.. You know, the little things.
The more he got to know these people, the more they trusted him and liked him for just being good to them as people every time he saw them. Over time, they became regular customers. See how this works? People who stop in one time and don't buy something, probably wont come back if they don't feel VALUED.
When an individual feels a personal connection with the people behind the business, they will be more comfortable proving you with their business. Good service results in lifelong customers.
I started Quiet Whiskers with one main goal in mind, and no, it wasn't money. I wanted to help people to understand their cats. I wanted to keep animals in loving homes instead of them being dumped in shelters or onto the streets.
During the development of my website, I have attended networking events. I have a history of going to my local animal shelter, so I offered to host their donation page on my website to help them out. These are people who do very good work and don't profit from it whatsoever. These people help those who can't speak for or even help themselves.
In addition, I have met several other groups, companies, services in my niche. I've discussed them on my website, I've reached out to them personally, and I've grown my network and my reputation through these companies based on my own hard work. I offer to help them out by giving them a mention and linking them in my content. They do the same for me.
I am averaging no less than 150 views daily, and have made four sales. I get donations now, and am seeing my traffic actually go to Amazon. I had 21 visits to Amazon just the other day. I promote products, I help our other cat companies and animal welfare groups, but at the same time, I am gaining MORE traffic from this. It pays to help others.
The key to succeeding is to build you network off of hard work and a good reputation. Nothing worth doing ever is easy, but it is well worth doing all the same.
"When you work hard for a goal, you will always succeed." This is advice I learned from a video game, Metropolismania, as a child. Even if you don't achieve the end goal, you still have gained experience--and that in itself allow you to learn from your mistakes, giving you opportunities to grow.
Things will be hard at first, but they will always get easier. Keep at it. You have all the power in the world to achieve your goals.
