I got this, Hazel.

As I go through my WA training and become more and more comfortable with it, I am reminded of my first "grown up" job.

I was putting myself through college and was lucky enough to find a job at a busy coffee shop/restaurant that was flexible enough for my class schedule. It was my first waitressing job and I was to be trained on-the-job by a seasoned waitress named Hazel, who did not seem the least bit thrilled at the aspect of having a trainee shadow her for a couple of weeks.

Hazel was an admirable woman. She worked hard as a waitress to pay her mortgage and bills while raising three kids on her own. She had a grumpy demeanor, but a heart of gold.

My training at this restaurant proved to be an eye-opening experience for me. Coming from a sheltered upbringing, I was now dealing with the occasional grumpy patron as well as cranky waitresses who yelled at me for getting in the way. I had fry cooks throwing food across the food line at me when I didn't follow proper procedure.

I was not sure that I was going to make it through my training period.

On a break during my first week, Hazel sat and smoked a cigarette while giving me a bit of advice. She told me that I had the opportunity to realize what I was "made of" from this work experience. She added that I could "hang-in-there" or give up and turn away in defeat. She finished by telling me that one day it was all going to "click" for me as I realized that I had finally gotten the swing of things. I decided at that point that I was going to persist and would not be giving up.

I will never forget the day that everything finally did "click" during one especially busy Sunday afternoon. I was assigned to a large party in addition to my already busy work section. Hazel approached me as I gathered my water glasses in preparation for my new party of twelve patrons. She offered to "co-waitress" the table with me. It was then that I realized that all of my hard training and persistence had finally come to fruition. I could handle this on my own!

When I began my journey on Wealthy Affiliate just a little over a week ago, I felt incredibly overwhelmed. Talk of "finding my niche", SEO, keyword search or even using WordPress made me want to turn away in defeat. I did not even really understand what it meant to "own a domain". I had to reread most of the lessons and re-watch all of the videos, but things have finally started to "click" for me. I have published my first site and am brimming with ideas for my first and future posts. I have miles to go but, by golly - I am on the right road on MY WAY to SUCCESS!

For me, it's all about persistence and determination. I see the potential that I have in this endeavor as I push forward and continue to learn. I am looking ahead to a bright and successful future!

I can do this! This has become a reality for me!

I got this, Hazel.

Great post, Bella! You write very well and your story was very interesting. I think you are going to succeed here!

Thanks so much! I am amazed at how much I continue to learn on here on a daily basis! :)
When I wrote that blog, I was just "out of the starting gate". As I reread it today, I realize how much more I've learned since then. I am "trotting along" a little more steadily at this point!
I don't why but I woke up with "Equine on the Mind" this morning! LOL!

I am kind of seeing Kyle and Carson as our Hazel. Nice post.

Thank you, Gordi! I wonder if Kyle and Carson would mind if we called them "Hazel".
:)

That's funny, Bella

Well written! I have had the same experiences, both as a waiter in school, and in my present career. I'm looking forward to the "getting it" stage with WA!

They say that what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger, right? :) Thank you so much, Conservidude!

Yes, Bella, the adversities in life teaches us to face the challenges in life. When we face the challenges, our inner strengths show us the path to follow. You are on the right path now and as you have said, "You can do this! This is a reality for you". My best wishes.

Thank you so much, Swadesh!
