Too Much Information!

That is half tongue and cheek. The other half is all that information. Since I've joined WA I have increased my knowledge by leaps and bounds and, of course, how much I don't know becomes very apparent. Now if you are slightly attention span challenged, like me, there are many things to distract you.

That being said my to do list has quadrupled since I joined WA, not to mention Jaaxy. I told you not to mention Jaaxy ;-)) Especially the website tasks. In some respects that's OK. Here in is where my problem lies. Prioritizing. What I still don't know is what is more important than something else. Here is an example of my to do list

  • social Media buttons
  • research Jaaxy ideas
  • sitemap
  • learn wordpress better on my own
  • do a lesson, I'm on course 3 lesson 9 (Capturing Traffic Data)
  • work webmaster tools better understand google analytics better

Especially if you take a break and start following some discussions. You get the point. I'm sure you have your list. I will say that when my head starts spinning like that I, to get myself centered, usually write what's going on for me, like this. I take a walk, you can do that in NYC. Then I usually just do a lesson. One solution would be more checklists, I think for me. My ramblings of the day!

Have a GREAT day

Ron

Yeah, there is lots of information out there and 13 years later I still learn brand new stuff each and every day Ron. One thing I tend to do that leads to more productivity is to create a list of daily goals as well as weekly goals.

Before you add any new goals to your list, you must first complete all of these tasks and this way you won't find yourself "cherry picking" only the tasks that you enjoy doing (which we all naturally do lol).

Thanks, it's actually comforting to know that you are lurking, only in the best way, in the background. I thought yours was an excellent suggestion

it can be a lot, gotta take it one step at a time

I think the key is don't stop working, and when we reach ourselves continuing working next year, we will look back and see how much of this new information we can now say is second nature!

The more and more we read about this issue from different people, the more we all realise we're all in the same boat, aren't we !!!!!!!!!!!

I think the world we live in is information overload. From my experience online though and with my business, the better you are at focusing on just a few things the less overload and more success you can experience.

I know from where you are speaking. I tend to focus on content when I'm over loaded, and my head cant take anymore.

With that being said I would say get your site map submitted, and focus on lessons and WP. The analytics will come, but you can get really wrapped up in their numbers and now is not the time for that. You will hit that more in later lessons.

I don't yet focus so much on Jaxy, not have the extra cash right now, but have worked with WA's keyword tools extensively. I think I finally got everything worked out there.

I have been very distracted by little things (I call it going squirrel) articles from a great source and then when I get back to the lessons, I find, "Oh I've already done that" but realize if I would stick to the lessons I might not have had to work so hard to understand how to do that. So I realize I should stick with the lessons more.

Very helpful, thanks!

Taking breaks helps - walking the dog - a jog a walk or just switch off from mental activity.

I play some classical music on my mp3 or I do a bit of gardening - I then watch some television have a 40 minute power nap and I am ready to go - WA is a big project and its non stop learning which I find fun.

Very easy to get side tracked and absorbed into sone other training or discussion. It could be my full time job just wondering around WA having chats with folk and reading info. Lol. I have to be stern with myself and give myself a kick up the. ..... or else I woukd get nothing done.....i would have a good time though. Great blog.

One step at a time--walks are good! Well said and thanks for sharing with the community!

Thanks and well said. My problem is which step to take next.
