Never too late to change

A few weeks ago after not getting any place with my website I considered this wasn't for me because I just couldn't get my "Carr" motor started. For you who may not know my first husbands name was Carr. Nothing came to me. I pondered it for about a week and still nothing.

Until a thought crossed my mind. This isn't what you really like doing. I am speaking of my neiche, knitting. I like to knit but I'm not the best at it and that's why I have this cold feeling. I said to myself, self, what is your best thing you like to do........well, of course. I love to paint. I've taken classes for over twenty years. Not one of us ever graduated as our teacher, Pam would say "tounge in cheek".

I started painting when my very talented mother presented me with canvas, oils, brushes and a big shove saying "Get Your Feet Wet". I still didn't see me as an artist. I only drew paper dolls and clothes for them growing up. I didn't think I had any talent after watching my mother rake in blue ribbon after blue ribbon over the years. I just didn't have the knack to draw.

Well, my husband Jim enrolled me in an upcoming beginners art class at the college.

I reluctantly was carted to and left to the class. Best thing EVER!!!! I loved it and found I didn't have to sketch I could just start painting. The plus side I found a lifetime painting buddy. We went from different type teachers to finally finding the best, Pam .

My new friend, Zelda and I shared more than painting. She had recently lost her beloved husband while he was on duty, fighting a fire. We were about the same age in our 50's.. It wasn't too long and I lost Jim in an accident. My teacher, Pam tried to bring me out of my dark place. I was painting only in dark colors of brown and black. I couldn't see the beauty anymore. I'd lost my highschool sweetheart of 32 years of marriage. I never went anyplace without him and now I'm here all alone with children scattered. Pam brought me to see the absolute beauty God paints for us each and every day. Even the storms have their beauty if you open your mind, heart and eyes. I began to paint landscapes. I still liked the brown or dark old barns but I saw them in the bright sunlight or the beautiful sun sets. We are so blessed with this beautiful world. I think Good always for the ability to see and live in such beauty.

By now I knew what my website was going to be about. It's funny how things began to click and go together. I know I've got a lot to do but I've found my true love to grow with..

I feel I'm on the road to finishing this. I also must mention the many friends on WA that have encouraged and helped me. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thanks. Keep on trucking.

Hi Billie
Thanks for sharing your journey to discovering your true love, so to speak Lol, I wish you all the best in going forward.

All the best
Gary

Thank you Bawashom for your post. I, too, changed my niche and am much happier with the one I have set my website up for. I appreciate how you shared your discovery of how and why you are sharing your love of art, it is very touching. Thank you for being so open to sharing this decision. You are an inspiration to me!

You are so sweet. Thank you for the kind words. Hope you have the best of everything in this life

I'm glad things are working out. Keep the progress going

Thank you

Very inspiring story, Billie!

We had a spectacular sunset last night. Something I have never seen before. It was an amazing orange. The whole house was lit up from the orange glow. I looked through the east windows and the yard was orange tinged. I thought this was strange enough that I went outside to look. My first thought was a massive fire somewhere.

We had a huge thunderstorm go through. The big thunder clouds were to our east. So what we were seeing was how the light from the setting sun was reflecting and playing off of the massive thunderclouds just to our east and north.

How beautiful to see. Thank God for the power of vision and providing such an artist pallet to observe

Thanks for sharing with us. You'rs is a journey of many hurdles, twists and turns, and you are overcoming each and every one....KUDOS!!!!!

Keep the faith and keep painting. Keep me updated please

Good luck!!!!

Happy Weekend!!!!

T

I am lucky to have had the upbringing of my angel mother. She never gave up and she too had many trials beginning with being put in an orphanage at 3 years old by an aunt unwilling to care for her and her brother while her mother searched for work. Another story to tell. She had to endure that dark age of orphanages for her entire life. She ran away at 17. I remember her searching all my life for her brother and finding him just a year before he passed away. Her undying effort she displayed in my life made me able to keep going. Sorry I got wound up. I adored my mamma and for being the strong beautiful woman in my life.

I love your story Billie. Never apologize and feel free to shout at me we will chat!!!

Lots a RESPECT

T

Good to know. I love to chat also but not just my reflections

That's cool!! Just shout at me!!!!!!!

Will do

Billie - Wonderful story and a great object lesson on why we should never give up. Something special is right around the corner.

I believe I am at that corner

That's good news. Finding the right niche is so important. I'm struggling to work on my site and I think it's niche related, so you've encouraged me to try something different...but not give up. Thanks. Debbie

Billie, you are to be commended on how you never gave up. You are a wonderful example.

As I said before....Mother always quoted this when I said I can't..Billie Ann, can't died in the poor house. I have been too close to that house with things that happened but I'm not willingly opening that door!

I see you are a visual person Billie. I love panting and colors too!

Isn't the world a beautiful place to live. If only everyone could see good and beauty there would be a heaven on earth
