How I accidentally found a niche in my own backyard
About 10 years ago I bought a cabin in the woods. Nothing terrifically fancy. Just a getaway where we can go and relax and let the dog run to his hearts content. The property is mostly wooded except for a half acre of lawn that is in constant need of attention.
Recently I've been struggling with thatch build up and decided to take some action to see what I might do to improve the look of the place.
I'm kind of a fanatic when it comes to keeping the lawn cut and the edges near the rock gardens neatly trimmed and suddenly it occured to me that this would be a perfect niche for a website.
How many hundreds of property owners struggle with the same problems as myself - cutting, dethaching, aeration, overseeding, etc. All the kinds of problems that need solution.
Simple, right?!
For the longest time I have struggled to come up with an idea that stems from a personal interest. Something I do everyday that I thoroughly enjoy. Something I love to talk about and find ways putz round with.
It didn't need to be an earth changing idea. It stems from one of my abiding passions. It is scalable and is of interest and of help to many, many other people with a similar interests and problems to solve.
So, I fired up a new website and have been busy as a beaver writing content about everything lawn care related. And thanks to Wealthy Affiliate's new HUBs feature I am never at a loss for new content ideas.
So, the next time you feel challenged to come up with a useful website idea, look no further than something you are passionate about. You might just find it right under your feet in your own back yard.

It actually came as a big surprise when I kind of stumbled upon it. It was a "Eureka" moment. Love the HUBS.
