Another Experiment in an IM Challenge

Hello, WA.
I have another experiment in the works.
A few months ago I heard someone say here in the blog-o-sphere sub-domains are not a good idea because they don't rank very well in the search engines. (Wow, what a long sentence.) In my experience, I find this to be somewhat correct. My works in the subs don't get the traction of the main site.

I also heard ( in the written word, of course) the sub can be moved to the other end of the URL and become a page. This is what I'm working on. I am taking two sub-domains and moving them into a dot com and putting them in as pages. I'm still working on getting them moved, so it may take a day or two to get it all done.
Basically, I'm making one site out of three. Has anyone here ever seen this done? I am wondering if there has been any success with this format. If you do know of this working in the past, please let me know. If it has worked, I'll continue. If not maybe you'll save me some time and headache. Thanks for your help.
