My progress thus far.
Hello all, I am very excited to be able to share my thoughts and progress to-date here at Wealthy Affiliate. I joined WA on March 1, 2016. I made the decision to sign up initially for a free account after an almost 2-year journey of exploring life after almost 35 years in corporate America working in the IT field. My journey since then has included looking for home-based entrepreneurial opportunities and at the same time my siblings and I were caring for our 76-year Mom during her health challenges both at home and rehab and then finally during her almost 4 months of hospice care. Our Mom passed away on April 19.
I found Wealthy Affiliate while searching online for work from home opportunities that were not scams. After visiting their site and after I joined as a free member on March 1, my progress has been unbelievable, considering all that has been going on in my life and how it’s been hard to focus really. Since I already had several niches I was interested in and I had recently became a distributor and consultant for a hair extensions company, it made sense to me to choose “premium hair extensions” as the one niche to focus on as an “interest”, as well as “maintaining your own hair underneath” as a “problem” that needs to be solved. As I started working through the training, I saw the value the premium membership offered and signed up for it on March 7.
My website http://smith-etheridgehairextensions.com/ was built on March 10. I am particularly proud of getting this website up because having my own website has been a desire for a while, but even though I come from an IT background as a systems administrator and then IT project management, I never developed much web design skill. Well now I am becoming more proficient at developing this skill as well as learning about search engine optimization, writing theme-based, quality content, affiliate marketing, building website traffic, etc. And it is all very exciting to know that there are proven processes and techniques that can be learned and applied that can make one successful. I am grateful that I found Wealthy Affiliates to help me obtain the success I desire. This is a great community that offers valuable training, support, and lots of friendly, helpful members. I look forward to learning all that WA has to offer.
For the next 3-6 months, my plans are to continue to optimally organize and develop quality content for my website. This includes learning the best way to link a specific topic discussed in a blog post for example, to also be a static page topic. I also want to learn to effectively share company information emailed to me as a distributor and affiliate to my website and my social media sites, specifically when the email contents contain company direct product links and not my affiliate link. Continuing to learn how to promote my site to get more traffic is a major goal as well. Finally, by the end next 6 months, I will be happy to see some sales!
