What’s your relationship with Money?

I would like you to stop for just a minute and ask yourself “am I thinking about the oxygen that I am inhaling this very minute?’’ Most likely – your answer is no! I haven’t thought about breathing oxygen. I just breath automatically.

Well, now let us say that I ask you to hold your breath for twenty seconds (and this is not a Covid-19 prank) – may feel ok for the first couple of seconds, but the closer you get to the end of the twenty seconds, you will be grappling for breath.

This is in reality how most of us have our relationship with money. When it is scarce and we do not have enough of it, we cannot take your mind off it. We obsess with it. We think of what you are lacking because we do not have it. We try to find all the shortcuts we can take so that we create it. We are consumed with money because we need it, we want it and yet at the same time we hate the idea of it.

Is Money The Solution to Our Problems or To Our Fears?

Money gives us freedom. There is no question of that. If we could cut a cheque for a every problem that we have, then yes money is a solution to a lot of our stress.

For example:

If you cut a cheque for your children’s education – would that solve a problem?

If you cut a cheque for the large credit card balances that you ran up over Christmas – would that ease off your angst?

If you have been wanting to move to a space which is not as cramped as where you are and you could cut a cheque and do that – would that make you feel better? Would that give your family a better quality of life?

If you could avoid working for a demanding boss and work in the freedom of your own time and still make enough to have a decent life – would you feel better?

If you could stop fretting because you are probably like many in lock-down at the moment with no visibility of when you will return to work – would you feel better?

The chances are that you have answered a yes to each and every question if they applied to you. I know I have. So, we cannot disassociate ourselves with the fact that we all want to make more money than we are making presently because we need it.

What if Money Was Not Important?

The coin has a flipside. As you know, there are two faces to the proverbial coin. And the coin itself is very elusive.

What if you can get the money factor out of the equation and do what you love doing best without having to worry about the consequence of money?

I know that this sounds arbitrary but it is really the truth. If you, stop obsessing about money, and instead focused on whatever it is that you are doing, enjoy what you are doing, and doing it to perfection, then the money will actually become incidental, and when you are not obsessing with the money factor, it will start rolling in.

The flipside of money is merely your attitude towards it. How many of you are on the Wealthy Affiliate platform because you want to create content that will help others? And how many of you reading this article are on the WA platform because they just want to make money?

The likelihood is that the reason that each and every one of us who joined WA in the first place was the lure that we will have the solution on how to create a new revenue stream.

But that is the lure, the start of the goal. In due course, the ones who remain on the platform, go through the education process, and remain enthusiastic about what they are doing – are the ones who will see the money. So, the key to success is not the money but the enthusiasm you have for whichever niche you are creating and growing.

If I asked you to raise your hand - if you would like to make money with your blog (in a virtual audience) you may think about it for a second. If, however, I asked you, raise your hand - if you would like to make an impact on someone with the value content? Then in a virtual audience you are likely going to raise your hand. And finally, if I asked you how about if you could do both? Then you will have the whole crowd cheering.

You Always Know a little Bit More Than Someone on Something

Whatever it is that you know, that is your tool. Your knowledge base is your most precious asset. We are living in the world of alternative education. Each and every one of us here has the possibility to fast tracking this information and hand it to someone who knows less than us about it. And yes, people will be prepared to pay you for that information. But you will need to give them the value and give them what they want and what they think they need.

The process is your enthusiasm and your commitment. It is working smart rather than working hard. Finding the right education on just about any subject, will fast track your ability to make turn your knowledge into the income stream you are stressing about.

When you get the money stress out of the way, you can finally start having a good look at yourself and work harder on yourself – become the better you. This in turn will give you the success you strive for.

And as a token of celebration today, I would like to add my achievement in this community in less than 2 months of joining. Thank you all who have supported me in making this happen.

Stay positive and stay safe.

People sometimes do their best to earn money for living to give best for their love ones. As we always say Money can't buy happiness and help us when we are in sick of bed neither to bring to our second life.
Thank you for sharing your post. It's worthy to read! Keep safe and wish you more success.

Lyn

Very true

In the first months, what's in my mind is to have money but as it takes longer I learned to put more value on the content of my site bearing in mind that helping people will grow my website traffic and eventually earn money from it.
Congratulations on your badge.

Thank you very much

You know, I'm fortunate. I am retired and get very little from social security. And, yes, of course I'd like to make money from my blog. But I don't think about the money much at all, because I am more into trying to write something worthwhile for my readers. I guess that is a good thing.

Thank you for your comment. In fact your writing is always beautiful

Thanks for this post. This is a really nice way of putting things into perspective.
Yes, originally I joined in the hopes of generating another income stream. Also, I had things that I wanted to say to help people, but it was a secondary concern.
Over time I continue to stay, because I have found I like it here and I appreciate both what WA does for me (continuous education) and what I can do within WA. (Websites and getting my message across to others along with building and maintaining my website).

It is a win-win.

Alex

You have amplified my argument with even better words. Thank you

I love your post and it is so so true. I think that other things can be brought into the similar subject light such as the break up with a loved one, the loss of a special vehicle as you went through earlier in life & loss of physical capabilities, a Bankruptcy, and I am sure there are others. Many things can make one go Tilt and lose their step. The ones that can persevere and move through it are the great ones. I would say that money is most important to the majority of people even in WA even though many would not say so. But many of these others situations can be as devastating and have one go into a squallor or some other state of being uncomfortable.

Previously it was said that the most traumatic things to bear in life are a death, a divorce or moving house. Now we can add a pandemic. The difference between the latter is that everyone is going through this at the same time

Very good.
