Affiliate myths
We are social creatures by nature and love to share things with our friends and family, especially what we are doing. Its like the 3rd question in any conversation "How you doing, what you been up to?"
Most of us are open and honest with our replies. I was full on about this program when asked the above. Full of energy, excitement and enthusiasm as I feel its a fantastic program broken down to easily learning segments that you can do at your own pace.
The reactions from people is varied. Some are pleased, others polite but a majority I noticed changed once the word "Affiliate Marketing" was used. Now my friends and family are very honest with me - sometimes to honest!
I wanted to know what the problem with Affiliate Marketing was, as I spend a lot of time and effort trying to get this working. They could see my time was being spent on some thing and I was looking for encouragement and support. The answers were not what i expected, which is interesting in its self. This made me wonder as to what people actually thought about Affiliate marketing even though they did not know what the actual process entailed.
Affiliate myths
"Scam merchants" - People genuinely think this, even though they shop on line and buy products through affiliate links on site but don't realize it!!
"Your spamming all day" - They think that we intrude in to Social media site, chat rooms, forums etc posting links to other websites
"Bet your in a pyramid system" - Having to recruit more and more people to retain a position and earn income from their % sales...skimming off your share
"Dodgy dealing" - Setting up bridge pages with unbelievable offers to click ads and to redirect traffic to scam site or porn sites
"Waste of time" - Everyone is jumping on the band wagon. So many people doing it you wont get at look in. The internet has millions of people doing this...its easier to just buy of Amazon...so why bother?
"People are making money off you" - Your spending all that time doing stuff for other people and you wont get much back., maybe 10 pence in the £1.. if your lucky. Better off getting a proper job.
"Another pipe dream" - You will do it for 6 months and then you will see its pointless. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it. Don't waste you talent on that rubbish!
These are genuine comments from people who have had conversations with me about Affiliate marketing. The one thing I have learned is that they dont have the 1st clue as to what is actually involved or the process behind it!
Ignorance is a wonderful thing for a lot of people and fear of the unknown often makes them place a label on a subject they have no knowledge of. This is reinforced within a group of to make them feel that their view is the "right" view.
When asked what I am doing or up to I now say "I make money on line". If they ask how I tell them its selling stuff on Amazon....Once my Affiliate Marketing gets the traffic going and generates a decent amount of income I may actually tell them I am "scamming all day"
But doing this may well prevent me from actually getting referrals! So I have adapted it to a more proactive response. "I sell stuff on line & Wealth Affiliate got me on the right track, give me your email and I can forward you the link. It was hard work but well worth it!"
Negativity is a thing that will pull you down. There are people who don't wont you to progress, they are happy to have you in the place they want you. It suits them to have you there!!

It is a sad fact that their are many folk who are happy to sit in their misery, complaining about what life has dealt them. It is always someone else's fault. I bet we all know someone like that !
It is often the same folk who sneer at you or put you down trying to tell you that you can't do it, it is way beyond you. You are just kidding yourself up in la la land.
The majority of folk buy stuff on-line these days and I'd be shocked if the majority haven't bought stuff through an affiliate.
People just think that this sort of stuff is for the big guys those who
"REALLY know what they are doing."
However EVERY successful business had their 1st day, they had their failures too. They just don't make it public.
I would recommend just not talking about your on-online business to those who are negative, you just don't need it.
They are entitled to their opinion ,it is wrong, but that is their right too
have one too.
Try to associate and mix with like minded folk, like this community.
Affiliate Marketing is definitely a way to make an on-line income as many here will agree and have a well proven record to back it up.
The training provided here at WA will help those from whatever their starting point, business or Techie Guru or a complete beginner .
Success can rub off on you ! Failure is just a state of mind!

Good post. Your new approach sounds like it will be very effective. Allow me to add some additional thoughts.
First off, there is a certain % if the people out there that don't like to see success in others because it forces them to look at themselves and they may not like what they see. As a result, they go negative.
There is another % out there that are desperately embracing online marketing but think you sign up somewhere, pay some money, go to bed and wake up rich. They then go negative on ALL programs.
WA to me is like a college course, an educational tool, on how to market online with some great alternatives thrown in for good measure. As with any course, be it professional or hobby oriented, it takes WORK. You can't make any money unless you create something of value for someone else.
It's common sense that "marketing" means you have to give someone a reason to buy something either from you or through you. Period.
All that said, WA is definitely the place to be . The cost is really minimal for what you are taking away. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would know what I do about websites and affiliate programs just after a few weeks on the program. Money very well spent.
Thanks again.
