Starting all over again. but there are lessons learned!
Hi everyone,
as some of you may have realised, I have been a member of WA since 2013, that's almost 4 years, and I should have a highly successful business by now. (Quick back story: when I first began I was also working on my dissertation for uni, which I was spending around 20 hrs per day on, after having lost my job, and I only just got it finished in time. Got a fisrt-class degree I'm pleased to say. Then I gained a job which I needed to pay the bills and was working on my site in the evenings, but I was spending 4 hrs a day travelling and was extremely tired with chronic fatigue, and the site suffered as a result, I also started getting spammed and was spending all my time trying to combat that. In the end, it killed my motivation, and following that, a relationship with someone who didn't agree with my goals and who I let sap my motivation and belief. Finally I'm ready, determined, and this time it's going to work!!
I do believe I pretty much have to start over again, including learning all the vocab and important points I learned previously, but I know I can do this now. I know I want to work for myself and no-one else now.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all the people who have joined since then, and hoping that all the old faces are still around. I will have many questions! And I re-gain my knowledge and confidence, I will also be around to help others.

I've been here for a little over 3 years and my site last year started earning revenue for the first time and even though I'm earning a bit more than last year, it is definitely no where near a livable income.
It has been quite sometime since I've gone through the training and I think I need to go back through it myself to relearn things I might not have picked up the first time or just plain don't remember.
I'm also learning to transcribe so I can earn extra money that way because like you, I want to ultimately work for myself and no one else. I wish you great success as you work towards that goal.
Hi Brian, many thanks for your lovely message. It all just goes to show that we cannot predict when we will make income, just that at some point, if we stick to our goals, we will.
Learning to transcribe sounds like a good idea. You never know, a local transcription service offered by you and with the right SEO on your site for that service, with all you've learned at WA might be that big breakthrough!

Never give up Heather. As you said in your blog, you've learnt a lot over the last four years. Now you're wiser and stronger and more focused on achieving your goals with the help of WA.

I hope this time everything will go well and you will succeed.
When you tell people what you are doing they usually react in two ways.
Either they say this is pointless and it can't be done. There is too much competition and the people who are doing it are professionals. So, no way you will make it.
Or
They say Really how do you that? I am interested can you tell me more.
But the second reaction only happens if you are making money doing it. Otherwise they don't believe it.
The majority of people don't know or don't want to know that it is possible to build a website and make it online. A small minority of people is really interested in this in my opinion. But online shopping is growing and it won't stop. So, it is always better to try and fail (even more than once) than never do anything.
