SERP Rankings & Google Dance - Part 2

So, over a week ago I reported how I was trying to see how it would affect the position of a particular page of my website by simply adding more relevant content on a regular basis in the form of comments from readers. My plan was to request comments through Site Rubix and reply to each over the space of a week or so, to see what effect this would have on my search results. After publishing the article, it went straight to page two. However after receiving quite a few relevant comments and replying to each of them, the page appeared to be completely removed from the search index.

One week on, and that page is officially nowhere to be seen within the Google. What is really annoying is the fact that a competing page has sat at the no.1 position for the whole time with very little page content, whilst also linking out to a known scam! It goes to show that Google still need to work on that algorithm because they don't always get it right.

At the moment I have no real proof of any reason why the page was removed from Google. As I mentioned in the first part of this story, I thought it was probably just "the Google Dance" and that my position would come back with time. Perhaps this might still be the case, but after being removed for over a week its not looking great.

For now the scammers have won and Google is happily giving them all the traffic. For me its back to the drawing board in preparation for my next attempt at Google domination!

Hi Andrew, I thought I knew how google works but clearly their ranking algorithm is a mistry. But thanks for your persistence and please update us going forward as there is a lesson to be learnt here.

All the best mate

There certainly is a lesson to be learned. I will continue to research and experiment. Its part of what I want my site to be about. Stay tuned, I will post an update if I discover any further information.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, I just looked at your page and cannot believe that a scam page has the No.1 spot for your keywords. Did you find out how this happens? It is baffling isn't it?

Hi, no, I'm afraid I didn't find out why this has happened. Baffling is the word! I have tried to find the cause and so have a few others but so far it is a total mystery. I have checked recently and the page is still not even showing in the search results. However Google does not seem to have a problem with my site as a whole, just that single page.

Perhaps it will eventually come back? Who knows! Google works in mysterious ways.

What's the page and I'll check it out?

This is the page in question: its a review page. http://makemoneyonline.zone/passive-profits-review-ian-ross-ian-shutts-nathan-birch

Thanks for checking it out!

Wow - incredible!
... I can't believe the website in the #1 spot - bull!

Your page is terriffic, and high quality.
I have no idea how that retains the first position - I'm going to have to think about this one - very interesting indeed.

I know! This has been driving me crazy. It just goes to show that sometimes even Google gets it totally wrong! There are two possibilities that I can think of that have got this page removed from the search results. First, perhaps the main keyword has been mentioned too many times? Although I have checked the keyword density and that's fine. Second possibility is that I have requested too many comments too quickly through site rubix and Google has got a bit suspicious? Apart from that I'm really at a loss as to what has happened here. Its really annoying though that the page at #1 has sat there right from the beginning and not moved!

Really appreciate you looking at this and any further insight would be great as I am scratching my head!

Cheers,

Andrew
