Google Dance & Ranking Results Part 3

Hello! Hope you guys are doing ok. I just wanted to share part 3 of an experiment that I was doing some time ago, back in November. I wanted to see if I could increase my search engine position by creating a quality review and adding comments via the site rubix comment system. I wanted to find out if I created a really good quality article that was far better than the competition and then had lots of interaction on the article, if it would be enough to increase my position within the search results.

If you want to see the article, its called "Passive Profits Review" and is on the make money online zone site, found in my profile. In my opinion the article was indeed a lot better than the competition and had a lot more content. Over a period of a couple of weeks I requested comments via site rubix and added replies to each and every comment that was submitted. At this time there is 66 comments on this article.

The results were dramatic and totally unexpected!

My article was indexed and went straight into page 1 of the results. However, just a short time later, after adding a few comments over a couple of days, the article was completely removed from Googles index.

I couldn't understand why this had happened and after speaking with several people here on Wealthy Affiliate, including Kyle we didn't really come to any conclusion.

Over a month later and my article is finally indexed again.

After checking for the article again today, I discovered that it is again indexed. For the main keyword of "passive profits review" I appear way down the list, on page 6! However searching for the keyword + the creators name, gives me a no.1 position in the search results.

Now there might not be a great deal of traffic for this keyword and it might not be a fantastic result. However it does show how results can vary enormously and how the Google dance can effect your search results, especially if your site is new.

Conclusion:

I have given this much thought as to why the article was de-indexed so quickly and I believe that I have come up with an answer.

Google has always hated anyone trying to manipulate the search results to their benefit. Look at how things have changed in recent months with regards to creating backlinks. I believe that although there is no hard evidence, the removal of this article was due to the fact that I added too many comments to this article, too quickly.

One of the things that I find really useful is to look at really popular blogs that I know are doing really well. When I look at some of the most successful blogs online, I notice that although these sites are getting way more traffic than I am, they still get very few comments on a daily basis. A popular article might get one or two comments a week. So my article suddenly getting 30 or 40 comments within the space of a couple of weeks may well have raised a flag in the eyes of Google!
