Finding Your Writing Groove

Not sure about you but I have really struggled with learning to write a massive amount of content and am still finding my groove. It is getting easier after 10 months and I thought I would share some tips.

  • Work out your own pace of writing
  • Don't try to start perfect, you can't
  • Find a way to love sharing knowledge on your website

Work out your own pace

Now this may seem obvious to many but I found myself reading about people in our wonderful

community who could blab on for hours and that just isn't me. I tend to only speak or write when I have something to say. I definitely pushed myself to expand outside my comfort zone but initially it was to only write 300 words here in my blog. It was easy to add pictures and check my grammar and I then progressed to writing in Site Content. It really helped to have a structure from the templates.

The only problem was that it gave me a headache writing for so long and I could never finish a post in just one day. This bothered me as everyone seemed to be saying that you had to do 3 posts a week to get anywhere with your business (I had to learn to ignore that)

This expectation finally stressed me out so much I stopped writing anything. Literally burnt out. Finally, after a break I realized that I really did want to build my websites and made peace with myself and decided to write one post a week over 3 days. I found my groove!

No big surprise, as soon as I stopped beating myself up I found I could write 2 posts a week, one for each of my websites. Still, not 3 a week but who cares.

Don't compare yourself to others. If you are writing quality 1300 word posts with great information and links you will succeed. Hence, my first sale last week.

Don't try to start perfect

Really this is a silly thing we do to ourselves. Even babies fall down learning to walk and we expect to be able to know all about writing and SEO in the first month. Start with the first baby steps, congratulate yourself on keeping going when others give up and learn as you go.

You will make mistakes, which means you are stretching in an unknown land. Well done!

My mentor loaded Yoast onto my website to help me learn the writing and SEO tricks and I love getting those green lights before publishing. If this doesn't make any sense to you than have a read of my Toast to Yoast blog here in the community.

Just start writing!

Find a way to love sharing knowledge on your website

This is the final key that I found helped me to be hungry to write more often. I really do love

helping people and if the knowledge I have can be shared in a way that is beneficial to others, then I'm in. If, along the way I can package it to earn a living than all to the better. The more time I have to write, the better I can help.

I find now that after finishing one post I already have in my head an idea to dovetail with it. In fact, I have to write down the details as it starts taking over my waking moments.

Definitely a joy!

Everything you need to learn and all the support is here in WA, you only need to reach out and grab it with both hands.

Wishing you all great success.

Lily

Thank you so much for this blog post!
I'm currently trying to write my first blog post on my website and I'm really struggling with this (I just posted on my blog about this ahah) so this post of yours couldn't have come in a better time! :)

Thank you for the motivation!

Best of luck to you!

Hang in there you can do this. Definitely try the templates in Site Content, they really helped me flow.

Yes, they are really useful indeed! ๐Ÿ˜„

Great post!
It's really true, what is important is to do what we have to do at our own pace. The success of others can inspire us but not discourage us because we will have our time too and these same people who talk to us about their success will support us in our success and will be happy for us. So let's do what we can with the time we have without stress.

Wise words Ingrid.

Beautiful gal๐Ÿ‘Œonce you've got through that mental block, it's a lot easier next time around nd the BEAUTY about it ...IT gets better nd better. I know; I've been there ..just last week I made myself a small promise Lolz

"Next time I'm stuck, I'll take a brief break, REASSESS nd within 24hrs I must resolve the issue ..we call that PASSion =the violent desire to win or overcome, which is resident in each one of us, nd another GOOD Thing, WA promotes IT!

Cheers Lily๐Ÿ˜Ž

Great inspiration.

Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing this. It is a great reminder for me. Sometimes I get so moody and choose not do write at all but then I feel awful. My husband always tells me that it is not a race. I should be patient with myself, work on my own pace and just enjoy the process.

Cheers,
Ferra

I'm sure you know that Ferra it's just getting off your own back that is hard, I know I do it.
Take care and be kind to yourself.

Thank you, will do. ๐Ÿ˜Š
