Sad news today the passing of David McCallum at age 90
Earlier this morning when I woke up, to the news that our loved Ducky Mallard (of NSIC fame), had passed away at 90 of natural causes.
Born in 1933 passed on 25th September 2023
He was such a wonderful and very talented Scottish-born actor.
Most people as I said may know him as the character Ducky who played the eccentric medical examiner in the Hit TV series of NCIS.
Many of us Baby Boomers will also remember him as the so-called sick-kick to Robert Vaughn (another talented actor) who played Napoleon Solo as the main agent in the secret crime-fighting scene of a group called “United Network Command of Law and Enforcement”
Commonly known to us as The Man From UNCLE” it takes the first letter of the agency name.
David McCullum played the sick kick as Illya Kuryakin who was a Russian crime fighter even though there was a cold war at the time as the agency had an international staff.
At first, his role was small but as the show grew to a larger audience rather than being a sidekick, he became a partner to Robert in their roles.
David was young at the time and also became a hit with the ladies as well.
Mr David McCallum died on Monday of natural causes, surrounded by family at New York Presbyterian Hospital at age 90.
He had two Emmy nominations during his stint in The Man from UNCLE, and a third as an educator struggling with alcoholism in a 1969 Hallmark Hall of Fame drama called Teacher, Teacher.
David was a gifted actor and loved by many not just his fellow actors but the crew, staff, and people worldwide.
Sending my condolences to his family and know that he will be there with all the other fantastic stars we all have grown to love and watch that made our lives easier and fun to be part of.
Rest in Peace David you gave all you had to the world and we are grateful as a result.

The sweetest thing that I read about his passing was his son asking his Mom if she would be okay that first night without her husband. Her reply was "yes, I'll be fine. I just wish we'd gotten to grow old together." They'd been married 56 years; he was 90, she was in her late 70s, and she still wanted more time together. So precious. Rest in Peace, dear Ducky!

WOW, I remember this guy, I grew up watching the Man from "U.N.C.L.E."
series. It was one of my favorite TV shows. He was one of my favorite Actors,
at that time along with Robert Vaughn. They both had a cool style of
out witting the bad guys. I'm sure going to miss this guy. Use to play
the U.N.C.L.E. Agent as a kid when I was growing up. They had a lot of
cool gadgets. Was always hoping to get one of those cool communication
devices, Guess Santa Claus never got my list.
